La Seggiola di Vienna: Storia dei mobili in legno curvato The Viennese Chair: The story of Bentwood Furniture Giovanna Massobrio and Paolo Portoghesi  Published by Martano Editore, Torino, Italy, No date given (ca. 1975?) Hardcover in dustjacket Size 8 inches square  321 pages with myriad illustrations of chairs. Includes a complete reproduction of the Thonet 1904 furniture trade catalog (126 pages). Parts of trade catalogs of other firms are also reproduced. Text in Italian with English summary at the end titled 'Thonet and the history of bent wood techniques'.  In my opinion this extremely rare book is one of the best visual references available on the art nouveau bentwood furniture in general and Thonet chairs in particular. The reproduced catalogue is an invaluable resource, further supplemented by a great many more illustrations of the chairs, both in vintage and recent photographs, as well as drawings in the text.  Condition: This is a very good copy in a very good dust jacket. It is very clean both inside and out with just expected signs of age and use. The spine is faded and there is a little scuffing to the edges of the dust jacket. There are no previous owner inscriptions and it is not price-clipped.

Payment and Postage

Paypal is accepted. UK buyers only may also pay by cheque or postal order. If it's a cheque, please allow 7 to 10 days for it to clear. In exceptional circumstances it may be possible for overseas customers to pay by other means such as bank transfer, but this is by prior arrangement only.

Non-payment

All non-paying bidders are, without exception, reported to eBay. This is not for the sake of being vindictive, but because eBay charges retrospective fees calculated on the actual sale price of items and this money needs to be retrieved. Believe me it is becoming increasingly difficult to make ends meet on here as it is! Thank you for your understanding. Please refer to eBay's policy on non-payment for more information, including its ramifications for the bidder. If you have any doubts, please do ask before bidding.

Condition of items

Please note that, unless clearly stated otherwise, my listings are for vintage/antique objects and therefore, by definition, are not going to be in the same condition you would expect from a brand new item. Please be assured that I always endeavour to offer the most accurate description possible of the item's condition and take multiple illustrative photographs.

Vintage electrical items

Unless explicitly stated otherwise in the description, vintage electrical items are always sold in their original condition so should always be safety checked by a qualified electrician (in the country of intended use) before use.
