Text description beneath the picture (subject to any spelling errors due to the OCR program used) ST. AUBIN THIS pleasing little town is easily reached byroad and rail from St. Helier, both these routes following closely the sweep of the lovely St. Aubin Bay, which, indeed, at high water is considered by the islanders, not unnaturally proud of its curving expanse, to rank with the far-famed Bay of Naples. St. Aubin is more advantageously placed for easy access to fine scenery and pretty walks than the capital itself, as there are no long streets of houses and shops to be traversed before reaching them. It may, in fact, be said to lie in the centre of the beauty spots of the island. A mile to the south is Portelet Bay, and to the south-west lies St. Brelade Bay, both of which are reckoned among the prettiest and most picturesque in the Channel Islands. The finest coast scenery in Jersey will be found between St. Aubin and Corbière, and to follow the coast from the latter place makes a delightful walk. The first point to be observed is the fine La Moie Point on the right looking seawards, after which one passes the strange and fantastic rocks of Fiquet Bay. Next comes St. Brelade, with its church—the oldest on the island, and dating from the year 1111—and its beautiful bay. This bay possesses a fine stretch of hard sand, which allows of safe bathing at all states of the tide. Next on the road is the charming little Portelet Bay, with its Janvrin's Island, tower-crowned, in the centre. To the east of this bay, again, is Noirmont Point, which forms the western arm of St. Aubin Bay. The rocks about this coast are favourite resorts for fishermen, bass, conger and mullet being very plentiful.
