The streets of the east end are covered in over 60 detailed walks made in the last years of the 19th century, and together the record the social history of this part of the city. Areas covered include Wapping and Limehouse, Whitechapel, Stepney, Old Street and Aldgate, Shoreditch, Bethnal Green, Bromley and Bow, Hoxton, Dalston and Haggerston, and Hackney and Homerton. The condition of the book is generally very good. The covers have one or two very minor scuffs but are clean and bright, the spine is tight and intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound. There is an old price printed and a small price sticker, both on the rear side cover.
