The Karakusa vine pattern is depicted on the outside of the bowl. The center of the bowl is "Sansui", it depicts landscape. A home, a mountain and trees. The bowl is in very good condition for its age. Imari porcelain comes from the area of Arita, which is located on one of the southern islands of Japan, Kyoshu. The kilns around Arita have been producing Imari porcelain since the early 1700's. Arita is one of the centers of Japanese porcelain production, porcelain produced there today is commonly referred to as Arita, and not Imari. Imari is referred to pieces dating 1880 and earlier.
