Please read the whole description!

On offer is a  Japanese late  Edo/ early Meiji period ( 1840 - 1890) Nabeshima Blue and White Footed Charger. It is approximately 34 cm long/wide and 10.7 cm tall and at the widest points . It has some decent weight too!  Hand-painted throughout with Cobalt Oxide to create the blue and white effect. The centre of the charger depicts a pine tree (very popular and common theme for Nabeshima ware), and the sides decorated with cherry blossoms. Nabeshima ware is a high-class Imari ware that was meant only for the feudal lords and their relatives. Ordinary people didn't have access to this kind of ware. It is very sought after and quite expensive. Recently sourced directly from  Japan. a nice decorative item alongside a piece for serious collectors.

Condition Report : This charger is in good antique condition. There are some firing faults that have resulted in loss of glaze and  tiny surface dents/holes. Especially in one spot ( photo 19).  There is also two hairline cracks on the upper rim (photo 18), with some rust formed on top of them. But not major ones. Last there are several surface scratches widespread like the ones you see in photo 21. They are only  visible when light reflects on them. And they are in line with similarly dated used items. But none of this blemishes are quite serious, and they don't affect the functionality or integrity of this charger. Please note the charger is not perfectly circular and it has got the "wrapping" effect, visible in photo 2.

Remarks: Nabeshima ware is quite popular and quite limited (as it was meant only for the feudal lords). The prices it achieves are sometimes hair-raising. I have seen footed dishes of 20cm width being offered here on eBay for my asking price. There are examples of such charges (of course in mint condition and more detailed theme) selling in the thousands at auction houses. I managed to source it from Japan at a very reasonable price and offering it here for a quick small profit. I won't be considering any offers for this piece . If anything the price can be raised without any prior notice, should I make a couple of sales. I have had  some items recently withdrawn and then offered at higher prices(or not offered back at all), and got some messages asking for the previous price(or even lower). I pointed out my previous remarks made (mentioning this fact). They thought I was bluffing, but I wasn't... So if you are interested in this piece, then consider these remarks. Thanks!

Should you need any additional info, please do not hesitate to ask me any questions. I would be very happy to assist you. Please study the photos provided as they form part of the description. Should you need more photos I would be very happy to provide you with them.   What you see is what you get!

IMPORTANT!!!  A few things about me and my listings for art pieces. I am in no way an expert or claim to be one. Whether you believe it or not my interest started from Traditional Japanese razors (Kamisoris) and Natural Sharpening stones (Toishi) and quickly expanded to anything Japanese related really and absolutely fell in love it! Then expanded to Chinese art pieces as well. I am registered with over 100 auction houses here in the U.K. and this is where I source these items that I offer, alongside a select few that I source here on eBay. I have learnt the hard way, how auction houses can give wrong and in many cases deceitful descriptions. Hence ,I have sought the expertise of a Native Japanese speaking Accredited Art Appraiser with nearly 3 decades of experience. He visits me every few months (I am sorry I cannot afford more frequent visits) and advises me on my collection and new acquisitions. I use his guidance alongside the description of accredited auctioneers to describe my lots and in line with similar known examples. Of course mistakes can occur and I will take full responsibility if that happens. If you are qualified to do so and you spot an alleged error in my listing, then please let me know.  BUT, you have to be in a position to do so, i.e. you are a Certified Art Appraiser registered with an Appropriate Body or an Accredited Auctioneer in Art and have professional knowledge . If that is the case then please kindly introduce yourself to me and inform me of this error. According to the severity of the error, I will either make changes or delist the item.  However,  if you are just another "dealer" or a self proclaimed "expert" and you know everything better   than me and can  outperform me and my Art Appraiser in every simple possible way  (OF COURSE YOU CAN!!!),  then I would like to state that your "expertise" is  neither requested nor is welcome!  I guess my "expertise" about Triden t is not needed by the British Government... Please fell free to follow eBay's procedure and report my item as "fake" , "Replica" or whatever else you think. I will be more than happy to provide evidences of it being a genuine item or of an age described.  Every item  I offer can be successfully linked with an item sold by an accredited U.K. auctioneer with a relevant invoice, or if it is eBay sourced a similar example auctioned. If , however, and despite this notice you message me and you try to "teach "me and prove your superior knowledge , then I would like to let you know that I have a  ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY  on nonsense! You will be reported to eBay and face the consequences , which may include suspension of your account. The eBay marketplace is  NOT  the place to get feisty or pursuit your own hidden agenda!

Payment:  eBay now manages my payments, so you have a choice of payment methods. Payment within 72 hours of the sale please. If you cannot meet this deadline please consult with me prior  to bidding so I can agree to that, subject to a valid reason being present and good track record on eBay. Any other purchases that haven't been paid within 72 hours will be reported to eBay and an unpaid item case will be opened. No exceptions at all!

Shipping:  I will ship the item as soon as possible but it may take up to 3 business days. Please inform me prior  to bidding  if you need the item any sooner. I will try my best to accommodate your need. For customers outside the UK, this item will be shipped via eBay's Global Shipping Programme. This means I will send it to the UK centre and after that eBay will do the rest. They will take care of the taxes due and charge you for them alongside their shipping fee. You will get the exact added amount at the checkout. I don't have any control over those charges. They will also be responsible for any damage during the transportation. The item will arrive to you without any further action needed from your side.

Returns : Under normal circumstances, I will not be accepting any returns. However, if the item was misdescribed and it was my fault then I will accept returns. I will pay for the return postage and also cover the original shipping fee. But let me clearly  state what I mean by that! You have to prove  to me that my lot has been misdescribed. Just because you THINK  or even better the person running your local shop selling "The Sun" alongside chocolates has "deemed" one of my items as "Fake" , "Replica" or whatever else, that doesn't mean I will accept your request! You have to prove that my photos haven't depicted the item correctly or have an accredited person  (such as one I have described above) after physical inspection  (per industry standards) to deem an item as of "inappropriate" description (for whatever reason really including wrong dating on a genuine item). Then I will be more than happy to accept returns and this is my guarantee to any person buying art pieces from me , even after years  of the original sale. I keep detailed records and I am in position to know.

By buying this item you AGREE to the terms and conditions of this sale. If you disagree with ANY of the above, then please REFRAIN from buying this item!
