Engine Restorer is suitable for use in:

  • Diesel engines*
  • Petrol and hybrid/LPG 4-stroke engines*
  • Petrol rotary engines, e.g. Mazda RX7, RX8
  • Engines with catalytic converters and turbo-chargers
  • In the engines of manual and automatic cars.
* Some modern engines utilise the engine oil as a hydraulic fluid, using engine oil pressure to actuate or regulate other engine functions. These engines do not tolerate dirty degraded oil or particles such as the copper/lead micro-beads (CSL) in Restore oil. For this reason you should avoid using Engine Restorer in the sump of HEUI (Hydraulically Actuated Electronic Unit Injection) diesel engines, VVTi (Variable Valve Timing Intelligent) engines (for example BMW Vanos and Dual Vanos, Honda VTec, Toyota VVTi, Subaru ACVS, Mitsubishi MIVEC etc.), and any other engine which uses high pressure engine oil to control other engine functions. There are, however, other methods of applying Engine Restorer to VVTi engines to address expensive problems caused by engine wear, other than simply pouring the contents of the can into the engine oil in the crankcase in the usual manner. Please contact us for more information. Restore can be used with Standard VVT systems operated by mechanical means or electrical solenoid.

Call us for instructions if you have: Petrol V V T i, VANOS, VTi, they can be treated with some preparation by your mechanic.

Nissan Primera SE P11, SR20DE naturally aspirated engine, 120,000 Miles on the clock. Current Bore Pressures = 130, 125, 120, 90 Daily Mileage = 60+ 1. OK Initial test of compression gives the following figures: cylinder 1 = 130 PSI cylinder 2 = 125 PSI cylinder 3 = 120 PSI cylinder 4 =   90 PSI Car is very lumpy to drive, no power at the top end. Oh, and I did perform a full oil change a few months ago, so its not like I am comparing new oil to old, the only difference will be in the ametech! 2. Got in touch with Ametech. They say Flush the engine, fit a new filter, and add new oil (with no additives i.e stop smoke, slick 50 etc). I decided to put in 15/40 as figure I will need slightly thicker oil than standard spec.I was advised to put 40ml of the RESTORE directly into Cylinder 4 (through the spark plug hole) and the rest of the 400ml tin into the engine with the new oil. 3. Attempted this tonight. -On starting the car had HUGE amounts of smoke from the exhaust. -Left to idle for 20 mins, smoke lessened, but by no means stopped. -went for a drive. After driving for about 5 miles (Revved the car up under load a few times) The smoke seems to have dissipated. Still smells bad though. Funnily enough, the power seems to be back (not properly tested tho as a bit worried to rag it at the moment) and the car revs up very smoothly, no obvious flat spots. 4. Took the car out for a spin around the ring road . (thought I would let everything settle from part 3). This time thought i would give it a good belt and see if it had improved. All I can say at this point is WOW. It pulls in every gear, I know it is wet, but it was lighting up the tyres in 3rd (it wouldn't do this earlier today and it was raining then). I had it red lined in 4th and the speed it got there was such an improvement! I am a little disappointed that the tapping noise is still there, but apparently if I take off the rocker cover and apply a little directly to the rockers and cam lobes etc this should quieten also, something to try later I think!!! I have a 30 mile drive to work tomorrow so will be interesting to see if it returns to being gutless over night. 5. Well I made it to work! Again noticed a definite improvement. This time I was primarily concerned with the low rev power. The car used to feel very flat before the "magic" 4K mark, and usually it was at 5K before it felt like the cams had properly kicked in. Now, it pulls nicely throughout the whole of the bottom end and when it hits 4K the cams kick in nicely. As I said in point 4, there is still a tapping noise that is driving me mad, but i think this is worn tappets. I think I need to do as suggested and remove the cam cover to fix this! Next task - Compression Test. 6. OK, as promised I did another compression test tonight.   So lets get right down to it! Cylinder 1 now = 140 PSI  (+10) Cylinder 2 now = 135 PSI  (+10) Cylinder 3 now = 130 PSI  (+10) Cylinder 4 now = 135 PSI  (+45) Also keep in mind since putting the RESTORE into the engine I have only driven over 65 miles so I am pretty damn pleased with the results. I still know this may be a temporary fix, so I plan to keep testing periodically over the next 6 months as see how well it performs. 7. After 1000 Miles I have re-tested the compression and again I have found no drop in compression. The car is running smoothly and pulling in every gear. 8. It is now 3 months , and 4000 miles later on and the car is still running well. The car no longer burns oil (It requires no topping up as it used to) The flat spots have still not returned. The car doesn't feel as pokey as it did immediately after the treatment, but I think this is down to the ECU. I am very pleased with the results. I did a compression test after 2500 miles, and there was no drop from the 2nd set of readings. :-) Malcolm Solley UK

What about forklifts, marine diesels, diesel tractors, buses and trucks: SO CAN RESTORE BE USED IN DIESEL ENGINES? Yes, RESTORE can be used in diesel engines. We recommend using RESTORE in any diesel engine with 'common rail' fuel injection system. Note: RESTORE MUST NOT be used in HEUI fuel system diesel engines such as those fitted in Ford Powerstroke engines and some International brand truck engines amongst others. A HEUI engine could be any high efficiency diesel engine where the injectors operate of high pressure engine oil – if you are in any doubt as to whether yours is a HEUI engine, please ask your dealer before using RESTORE.

WHAT IS AMETECH ENGINE RESTORE?

Every vehicle's engine wears out as a result of friction at the approximate rate of 1/1000 inch per 10,000 miles during normal operation. Drag Racing can wear out an engine in one run down the track. Friction causes wear of the cylinder walls which leads to compression loss. Lost compression results in your engine having less power --- it runs poorly and has sluggish acceleration. It also can cause increased oil burning, exhaust smoking, and poor fuel economy. RESTORE - Ametech Engine Restorer and Lubricant is a unique ENGINE additive that repairs those worn-out areas in the cylinder walls and bearings , thereby restoring cylinder compression and improving engine performance to nearly new original condition.

Ametech Engine RESTORE is the only product that contains the proprietary CSL remetallizing formula. This technologically advanced formulation fills in and seals micro-leaks in the cylinder walls. The result is increased engine compression and more engine power. Independent lab tests prove that Ametech Engine RESTORE really works to increase cylinder compression.

If your engine has FLEDGLING Big End Knock which is a heavy tapping from the bottom of the engine, that goes away when the engine is warm (slightly worn main bearings or con rod bearings), due to low oil causing premature bottom end wear, Restore can probably fix it, or your money back providing you involve us, and your local mechanic at every step of the way (have your mechanic call us on his mobile so we can hear the engine noise, before and after the RESTORE treatment, so we can confirm what the problem is, and if RESTORE has a chance to fix it).

NOTE: If the shell bearings are so worn that they have rotated on the crankshaft and the engine sounds like a hammer on a steel plate at all engine speeds, then RESTORE will NOT be able to fix it and the sump and con rod end caps and shell bearings will have to be removed to see how much scratching and damage there is on the crankshaft journals. If the crankshaft journals are scratched it will have to come out for regrinding during a complete engine rebuild. However trying RESTORE makes good sense for under £25.00 particularly with the money back guarantee through your mechanic. If the engine is too far gone, then depending on the age of the vehicle, a good take-out engine swap will probably be the cheapest and best solution for an older vehicle that has good body work (no rust). Call us in any case to discuss M-F 10am-2pm (ask for technical dept).

If your engine has fledgling big end knock due to premature con rod bearing wear -  RESTORE can fix it providing the shells have NOT worn down to bare metal. So if you hear bottom end knock pull off the road and STOP the engine and get a mechanic involved. Bottom end knock (also called Big End Knock) refers to the noise heard when lack of oil, or water in the oil from a leaking head gasket, causes the soft metals (normally lead tin and/or silver often called babbet) to overheat and melt and drop down into the sump. What remains is copper plated steel shell bearings that now knock on the steel crankshaft. If you catch it quick enough there is little or no scratching to the crank and the shell bearings can simply be replaced and the engine restarted when the lack of oil has been fixed. If you persevere and keep driving then the crank journals will get scratched and the engine will have to come apart and the crank re-ground smooth (very expensive). So catch it immediately, fix the lack of oil, stop the water leak etc and add several small cans of Ametech RESTORE Engine Restorer to fresh oil, install a new oil filter, and run the engine gently until RESTORE has replated the shell bearings. If no improvement after several hours or if the noise gets worse instead of better then the engine has to come apart. Providing the RESTORE process is being supervised by a registered mechanic or garage then we offer a money back guarantee if you are not happy with the results.

For over 30 years AMETECH ENGINE RESTORE - REMETALLISING OIL has been the only product that can restore compression to internal combustion engines (even MAZDA RX-7 and NSU Ro-80 Wankel style rotary engines!). RESTORE is for all 4 cycle Diesel and Petrol engines, yes even railroad locomotives and fishing boat diesels. This proprietary metal treatment lubricant was originally developed for NASA to work in the vacuum of outer space. Now this terrestrial version RESTORES and rebuilds any 4-stroke engine from the inside out, within about 500 miles, using CSL® - colloidal molecular sized COPPER, SILVER and ENCAPSULATED LEAD particles (=CSL) carried in a high grade (ASTM) engine oil. These 3 metals are supposed to be in your engine but get worn away by normal friction.

RESTORE works with all petroleum based engine oils, mineral, semi-synthetic or full synthetic, but we recommend you avoid the motor sport or racing oil formulas which are 100% ester oils; these are super friction-reducing oils but work against RESTORE repairing your engine. Formulas containing a modest proportion of esters within their formula, like Castrol Magnatec, can be used with RESTORE, but you will need to allow extra time (over and above the usual 1000 miles or 20 hours of engine running) to realise the full benefits of the treatment.

AMETECH RESTORE OIL Copper/Silver/Lead (CSL) particles will repair all friction-producing reciprocating or rotating metal-to-metal surfaces: manual gearboxes and standard differentials, hoist cylinder hydraulics, cylinders, pistons and rings, valve guides, crankshaft, main bearings, camshaft, bushings and bearings, oil pump gears and bushings, most power steering systems (P/S), and bring dimensions back to very near to original specifications. Add 5% AMETECH by volume for maintenance and up to 30% for an extreme mechanical repair treatment....!

Now YOU can buy this revolutionary engine oil and improve piston ring compression and engine performance during 500 miles of normal driving. Drive HARDER, and RESTORE will work FASTER (unless your engine has a serious problem like fledgling bottom end knock in which case the engine should be treated gently, of course), and give BETTER results: e.g. RACING - THIS ONE REALLY WORKS.

RESTORE is an ENGINE additive, not an oil additive. AMETECH ENGINE RESTORE works on the engine metal, not on the oil. AMETECH ENGINE RESTORE was put in a Porsche(tm) at Le Mans and the last lap was timed at the same lapsed time as the first lap. (Without RESTORE, race cars gradually get slower over time due to friction build up and increased wear and loss of compression. ENGINE RESTORE fixes this problem.)

Released in the USA in 1983, over 120 million cans sold had been sold Worldwide by 2003. This one really works. A basic engine overhaul costs over £2000.... A basic set of gaskets and o-rings for a Mazda RX-7 costs over £350.... RESTORE is under £20 for a 250ml can.

Attn CONSTRUCTION MINING and CONCRETE EQUIPMENT OWNERS: AMETECH at 5% by oil volume can repair the entire hydraulic steering and lifting system (ie stop GALLING) in a forklift or wheelloader or bulldozer ..... call for details. (NOT TO BE USED IN BRAKE SYSTEMS OR THEY WILL SLIP !!!)

Quentin Willson , Britain's foremost motoring writer, TV presenter and Sunday Mirror columnist said (SUNDAY MIRROR, SEPTEMBER 4 2005, page 56) - “If your engine is low on compression and a bit smoky you’ve really got to try Ametech Engine Restorer. You add it at an oil change and it reverses engine wear. I know these magic cure-alls have been around for ages, but this one really does work. A mate’s Bentley S2 had a flickering oil light at low revs and clouds of blue smoke from the rear. Rather than swallow the two grand hit for an overhaul, he dumped two litres of Ametech (Engine Restore Oil) into the sump. His S2 is now running as ‘sweet as a nut’, with no smoke and no blinking oil pressure light. At £39 a litre, Ametech’s not cheap, but it’s a very sound investment.  ......... You can also find it (and buy it) on eBAY (UK).” QUENTIN WILSON

Engine Restore – frequently asked questions

WHAT IS ENGINE RESTORER AND WHY SHOULD I USE IT? Every vehicle's engine wears out as a result of friction during normal operation. This friction causes wear of the cylinder walls, which leads to compression loss.  Lost compression results in your engine having less power - it runs poorly and has sluggish acceleration.  It also can cause increased oil burning, exhaust smoking, and poor fuel economy.  RESTORE Engine Restorer and Lubricant is a unique engine additive that repairs those worn-out areas in the cylinder wall thereby restoring cylinder compression and improving engine performance to nearly new original condition.

HOW DOES ENGINE RESTORER WORK? RESTORE is the only product that contains the proprietary CSL (copper, silver, lead micro-spheres) formula. This technologically advanced formulation has unique properties that actually fill in and seal micro-leaks in the cylinder wall. The result is increased engine compression and more engine power.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF USING ENGINE RESTORER?   By using 10% RESTORE as an initial (curative) treatment & 5% RESTORE on a regular basis at every oil change, you will keep the compression ratio of all cylinders at near original levels. You will feel the difference when you drive, your vehicle will have more power, sharper acceleration and it will run more smoothly because the compression is balanced across all cylinders. In addition, if your engine has blow-by, is burning oil, producing blue smoke or is excessively noisy because of engine wear, RESTORE will reduce and improve this situation.

IS ENGINE RESTORER GOOD FOR MY ENGINE? Yes, RESTORE is an extreme pressure lubricant in its own right, but it also compensates for engine wear.

IS ENGINE RESTORER COMPATIBLE WITH SYNTHETIC OIL? Yes, RESTORE may be used with any type of mineral, semi-synthetic or synthetic motor oil such as those available on any supermarket shelf. For BEST results though, we recommend against using RESTORE with oils containing plant esters, e.g. Castrol Magnatec, Silkolene R, Motul, Redline or oils describing themselves as Racing or Motorsports oils. Ester oils contain positively charged molecules that stick to metal surfaces to enhance lubrication, but they can work against RESTORE, slowing the repair process down considerably. RESTORE is best used in a standard motor oil of the specification and grade recommended for your engine. Once RESTORE has worked its 'magic' you can go back to your preferred friction-reducing package at the next oil change interval if you wish.

CAN ENGINE RESTORER BE USED WITH OTHER OIL ADDITIVES? We advise against using RESTORE Engine Restorer together with additives that modify the viscosity of the engine oil (oil thickeners or stabilisers), 'Stop Smoke' products (oil thickeners containing resins), friction reducers (chlorinated paraffins such as Prolong or Activ8) or other oil additives containing particulate materials (e.g. Slick 50 (PTFE), Molyslip, Xado  or Ceramizer). If you have used other additives in the engine recently it is advisable to flush the engine or to carry out an extra oil change before adding RESTORE. 'Stop Leak' products, which rejuvenate rubber seals to prevent leaks, are generally compatible with RESTORE Engine Restorer.

CAN ENGINE RESTORER BE USED IN DIESEL ENGINES? Yes, RESTORE can be used in diesel engines with either direct injection or common rail fuel injection systems, with the exception of HEUI engines (see Engines that cannot use Restore below).

CAN I USE RESTORE IN A MULTI-FUEL VEHICLE? Yes, RESTORE can be used beneficially in a multi-fuel engine (not 2 stroke petroil).

CAN I USE ENGINE RESTORER IN FUEL INJECTION ENGINES? Yes, RESTORE is equally effective in a fuel injection engine.

CAN ENGINE RESTORER BE USED IN VVT or VTec ENGINES? RESTORE is safe to use in standard (mechanical) VVT engines, but we do not recommend using Engine Restorer in engines that utilise engine oil pressure to actuate or regulate the valve timing functions. These engines use the engine oil as a hydraulic fluid to adjust cam phasing and are referred to often as VVTi (Variable Valve Timing Intelligent) engines, but car manufacturers have their own nomenclature for their VVT systems, like BMW VANOS, Honda VTEC, Mitsubishi MIVEC, Subaru ACVS, Fiat MultiAir, and Toyota VVTi etc. They all rely very heavily on clean oil of the correct viscosity to provide adequate oil pressure to control the valve timing. Engine sensors are programmed to detect changes in oil viscosity that might suggest dirt, metal debris or contaminants in the oil that could clog oil-ways, contaminate solenoids and cause valve timing to malfunction. The CSL particles in Engine Restorer could be detected by these sensors, triggering the ECU to show an engine management light and possibly engine codes; the engine will run erratically and stall repeatedly - all warnings to stop the engine immediately and not to drive the car until the oil and filter have been changed to remove the Engine Restorer (or other contaminants), and refilled with the recommended specification of oil for your car. If you want to use RESTORE in a Standard (mechanical) VVT engine, clean the engine well beforehand using a proprietary flushing oil before refilling with fresh oil of the correct specification and fitting a new OEM oil filter. As an extra precaution, you can feed Engine Restorer into these engines slowly over the course of 30 minutes to 1 hour at tick-over to allow the CSL particles to circulate freely without overwhelming the narrow oil passages in these engines. If you are unsure whether your engine uses engine oil as a hydraulic fluid to actuate the VVT, call your main dealer for verification before adding RESTORE or call our technical helpline.

CAN I USE RESTORE IN MAZDA ROTARY ENGINES? Yes, RESTORE is equally effective in Wankel rotary engines such as those fitted in Mazda RX7s and RX8s. One 400ml can is all that is needed to improve compression-related hot starting problems. Simply add to the engine oil.

CAN ENGINE RESTORER BE USED IN VEHICLES WITH TURBOCHARGERS OR CATALYTIC CONVERTERS? Yes, RESTORE is safe to use in vehicles with turbo-chargers or catalytic converters.

CAN ENGINE RESTORER BE USED IN LAWNMOWERS AND TRACTOR ENGINES? Yes, RESTORE can be used as long as the engines are 4 stroke engines. When adding RESTORE to small engines such as lawnmowers, add 10% RESTORE by volume when changing the oil. Be careful not to overfill the crankcase since you'll need to add less motor oil to compensate for adding RESTORE.

CAN ENGINE RESTORER BE USED IN 2 STROKE ENGINES WHERE OIL IS MIXED WITH PETROL? No, RESTORE is not formulated for use in 2 stroke engines using a petroil mix, but it can be introduced down the spark-plug hole with the piston half-way down the bore.  (Please refer to the attached Instructions to 2 Stroke and 4 Stroke and wet clutch users).

WHAT OTHER ENGINES CANNOT USE RESTORE? Engine Restorer should not be used in any engine using engine oil as a hydraulic fluid, pumping it at high pressure to regulate or actuate other engine functions. The HEUI diesel engine is one of these. Although rare in the UK, HEUI engines are found in Ford Power Stroke and Navistar engines, some International and Caterpillar brand truck engines and some Isuzu Troopers (4JX1 engines). A HEUI engine is a high efficiency diesel engine where the injectors operate off engine oil pumped at high pressure – DO NOT USE RESTORE IN THIS ENGINE. A HEUI engine has two oil filters. If you are in any doubt as to whether yours is a HEUI engine, please ask your dealer before using RESTORE or call our technical helpline.  Some high spec VVTi engines such as Toyota VVTL-I (lift intelligent) engines, BMW VANOS engines, Subaru AVCS, Honda iVTec, Fiat MultiAir, GM Active Fuel Management engines (fitted in some Chevrolet trucks but rare in the UK) and others, use very high pressure engine oil to regulate camshaft positioning and valve timings. These engines rely heavily on clean oil of the correct viscosity as specified in the vehicle handbook. Degraded, dirty engine oil containing sludge and swarf engine metal can cause the oil viscosity to go outside a narrow range programmed into the ECM; sensors detect the change in viscosity and trigger an engine management code, engine light and cause the engine to run erratically. For this reason, we do not recommend adding RESTORE to the engine oil in any engine utilizing high pressure oil to regulate or actuate other engine functions. Please call our technical helpline for further information on how to treat these engines.

WHEN SHOULD ENGINE RESTORER BE ADDED TO THE ENGINE OIL? For best results, RESTORE should be added when changing the oil & filter.  For even better results, flush the engine with a mild flushing agent (automatic transmission fluid is ideal), fit a cheap oil filter to catch all the sludge and then change the oil and filter again, this time using a quality filter, the recommended oil and adding RESTORE.  To avoid overfilling, make sure to reduce the amount of oil that you would normally add by about a pint (500 ml), add RESTORE and then top up using the dipstick to get a correct oil level.  After 1000 miles or 20 hours driving RESTORE will have done its job and you can either leave it in the oil until the next oil change, or if you wish you can change the oil a third time and then add in your normal friction-reducing package.

DO I NEED TO FLUSH MY ENGINE (4 STROKE ENGINES PETROL AND DIESEL)?  Yes. Engines build up sludge over time from the by-products of combustion mixed with old burnt oil. Engine Restorer contains mild detergents to keep the engine clean and corrosion free during and after treatment, but in a neglected engine the cleaners might release sludge allowing it to circulate and possibly block an oil-way. Sludge in your engine can only do harm. If your engine has been poorly maintained, cleaning it with a mild flushing agent (or ideally, automatic transmission fluid) will dissolve varnishes and gums and release all this sludge which will get caught in the oil filter. Change the filter before using RESTORE.  Badly neglected engines may need flushing twice or multiple oil changes to be sure of ridding the engine of free-floating contaminants. Make sure you change the oil filter each time too to catch the sludge released.  We do not recommend back-flushing using power flushing equipment.   The RESTORE CSL® particles will adhere more firmly to clean metal giving longer lasting results.  It is possible to add RESTORE as a top up to recently changed oil in a well maintained engine with a minimal amount of sludge providing you fit a new oil filter to catch any sludge released by the detergents. If the filter gets blocked by released sludge you will see a flickering red oil light. Change the filter as often as needed to keep pace with the sludge until the light stops flickering.

HOW MUCH ENGINE RESTORER SHOULD I USE? The recommended measure is approximately 250 ml of RESTORE for every litre of engine capacity, e.g.  a 1000cc engine (small car) needs 1 x 250ml can; a 2000cc engine (family saloon or Land Rover) needs 2 x 250ml cans; a 4000cc engine (large car or truck) needs 4 x 250ml cans or a one litre can.  However, after the initial application of RESTORE at this recommended level, a 5% volume of RESTORE in your engine at each oil change should be sufficient to keep your engine running smoothly and protected against future wear.

HOW LONG DOES ENGINE RESTORER LAST? By the time you’ve done 1000 miles with RESTORE in the engine, the wear reversal process should be completed.  Sometimes it takes a little longer and sometimes results are seen very quickly indeed; each engine responds differently, but certainly RESTORE will have done all it can do within 3000 miles or by the next oil change.  Any unused RESTORE CSL particles will keep on circulating round the engine filling scratched and worn surfaces where they occur until the next oil change.  Generally speaking, the benefits last for about 12,000 miles, but this will depend on driving style and use. It is recommended to add 5% RESTORE by volume to engine oil once a year, or if you prefer at each oil change, to keep the wear under control.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM USE OF RESTORE ENGINE RESTORER IN MY WORN ENGINE? Within a thousand miles of engine use and without having to disassemble the engine, you should experience a dramatic increase in ease of starting, power and torque, improved fuel consumption, reduced oil burn and lower smoke levels.

WHY HASN’T RESTORE FIXED MY ENGINE PROBLEM? RESTORE Engine Restorer puts metal back into scratches cut into friction-producing metal-on-metal surfaces in the engine. It uses the reciprocating and rotating actions of friction-producing components to grind the spherical CSL particles into the scratches as they pass between. If your engine problem has not improved within 1000 miles of use, then wear in the metal is unlikely to be the cause of your engine problem. If there is still a noise, smoke or compression problem then have your mechanic look for something broken: cracked piston, broken rings, burnt valves, worn guides and seals, blocked PCV or stuck EGR etc. or call us for advice.

PLEASE NOTE as miraculous as its properties may seem, RESTORE cannot repair broken parts or fix mechanical faults. Problems such as cracked cylinder heads, extremely worn bearings, glazed bores, loosened or broken components, such as faulty timing belt tensioners, will not see any benefit from the use of RESTORE.  A cracked piston ring will eventually break whether or not you use RESTORE.  If you are buying RESTORE to repair a problematic engine please ask your mechanic for a diagnosis of the fault before you commence treatment so that your expectations for RESTORE are not unrealistic.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Ametech RESTORE  Engine Restorer & Lubricant

This amazing repair oil can be used in any rotating or  reciprocating metal-on-metal friction and wear environment  where mineral or synthetic oil is being used. It can be used  with any fuelling system: diesel, petrol, LPG, Mazda Rotary,  NSU Rotary, and any 'common rail' injection system.  It MUST NOT however, be used in HEUI (high pressure  oil activated) diesel fuel systems. HEUI could be any high  efficiency diesel engine where the injectors operate on high  pressure engine oil - if you are not sure whether this  applies to your engine/vehicle, please consult your dealer.

Dos and Don'ts DO: Start with a clean engine, fresh oil  and  new OEM filter. For best result, flush the engine prior  to  doing the oil change and adding RESTORE. DO: Use the can at room temperature and shake  it  really well to agitate the particles before adding to  your  engine. Check the empty can before discarding it to  make  sure than none of the valuable CSL particles are left in  the  can DO: Use a grade of motor oil recommended for  your  engine in conjunction with RESTORE. Don't switch to a  thicker grade like a 20W50 - this will just impede the  RESTORE process. DO: Run the engine as much as possible after  adding  RESTORE. It takes around 1000 miles or 20 hours of  engine  use for RESTORE to complete the wear reversal process  in  your engine, so do be patient. DO: Follow the instructions carefully, especially  if  you are treating 2 strokes*, vehicles with wet clutches*  or  applying RESTORE through spark plug, glow plug or  injector  holes*. DO: Obtain a mechanic's diagnosis for your  engine  problem before you start treatment to ensure that your  expectations are realistic. RESTORE fills wear in  metal  surfaces - it won't mend broken or bent parts, burnt  valve  seats, glazed bores, holed pistons, broken rings,  blown  gaskets, blocked hoses or pressure relief valves etc.  DO: Check that RESTORE is the right treatment  for  your engine problem. See our guide. Call us if in  doubt. DON'T:  Use RESTORE with  vegetable  based oils, castor oil or ester oils, such as sports  or  racing formulas (Silkolene 'R' etc.) Ester  oils  work by imparting a positive charge to both metal  surfaces  to reduce friction, but this just slows RESTORE down,  making  it harder for the CSL particles to adhere to the worn  metal.  If using oils containing a proportion of esters, like  Castrol Magnatec, allow extra time for RESTORE to  work. DON'T: Use RESTORE with other friction-reducing  additives such as Slick 50, Prolong, Activ8, Motorup,  STP  and Wynn’s friction-reducers, PTFE, Teflon, Chlorine,  Molyslip etc. DON'T: Overfill the engine. Always make sure  you  allow for the addition of the quantity of RESTORE you  are  using within the total oil allowance for your  engine. DON'T: Use a lot more than the recommended dosage  for  your engine. A little more won't hurt, but a lot more  could  do harm. You can always add more RESTORE later if you  need  to. DON'T: Use RESTORE in automatic  transmissions, limited slip differentials, wet clutch  situations*, engines requiring a petroil mix*, power  steering fluid, brake fluid, fuel tanks. *Please  contact  us for instructions for dealing with engine wear in  motorbikes with wet clutches and 2 stroke engines  requiring  a petroil mix. DON'T: Use RESTORE in HEUI diesel engines, Ford Powerstroke,  Navistar,  International, Caterpillar, Isuzu Trooper 3.0 DTI [1998 & on]), VVTL- I  or BMW Vanos engines or any other engines using high pressure oil as a  hydraulic  actuator . HEUI (Hydraulically actuated Electronic Unit Injection) is a  high  efficiency diesel engine where the injectors operate off engine oil pumped  at  high pressure – if you are in any doubt as to  whether  yours is a HEUI engine or has a VVT system actuated by engine  oil  pressure, please ask your dealer before using  RESTORE

USE OF ENGINE RESTORER IN MOTORCYCLES If your  motorcycle has a 4 stroke engine and separate oil  reservoirs  for the engine and gearbox (i.e. a mechanical clutch)  then  you can use RESTORE Engine Restorer & Lubricant in  the conventional manner by adding it directly to the  engine  oil in the sump. However, if your bike has a wet  clutch, i.e. the engine and gearbox share the same oil,  you  should NOT add RESTORE to the engine oil, because it  would go through the clutch and make the clutch pack  slip.

If you have a wear-related engine problem in a bike  with  a wet clutch and would like to give RESTORE a try  before going down the road to a mechanical repair,  please  contact us. There are different methods of  applying Engine Restorer, depending on the type of  problem  you are trying to cure, but we should still be able to  help.

See what our customers have to say about Ametech Engine Restore Oil:

Hello mate,I purchased the product from ebay and put it in my 1995 range rover over a month ago, the results are quite impressive, the vehicle has 152,000 on the clock and after having done 1500 miles since I put it in the difference is remarkable. The engine is running much smoother with no vibration on tickover and improved acceleration with no hesitation at all. I did a commpression test before and after adding the product to the engine and every cylinder had improved and now all are reading over 100.I will be purchasing more in the very near future. Thank you very much Leigh Watkin (leigh5727) Sept 05/p

Hi,I have to say Im absalutely delighted with Engine Restore 'it does exaclty what it says on the tin'.           I have an 92 Astra GSI with a 190,000 miles on the clock on hard acceleration the car smoked quite badly, but after one treatment with Engine Restore it has totally cured the problem. Hi Dave

Just a note to say I purchased 1ltr of this magic substance for my Landrover Discovery 3.9efi and IT WORKS the engine is quieter, more lively I am always VERY sceptical of these "MAGIC POTIONS" where the manufacurer claims all sorts of things. But I have to say that with this product "It does what it says on the can" to quote a phrase. A question can I add a little to the front and rear differentials and the transfer box? If so then i'll be ordering again many thanks again Brian Hitchen 2005-08-11

Dear Ametech,

I added a small can (probably too small in hind-sight) to my 1.9l Diesel Fiat Duplo Van that had an apparently reconditioned engine 25K miles ago-  & what a difference!

I was expecting it to make little or not difference, but, it did the following:

½ The ‘Rattle’ at low speed

Better acceleration

Sounds ‘happy now at 70Mph instead of 60Mph

Less smoke

Much better economy

Really – totally amazing

Not cheap, but worth it.

Best regards

I have used your product in two of my vehicles, my Mercedes Van 308 sounded like a bag of nails, now you wouldn't think it's the same van! I've also put it in my Lexus LS400, it was pretty quiet to start with, but now you can't hear if it's running. I'm hoping it will make the same miracles on my Renault 19 TD. What an excellent product, I would advise anyone to invest in it - many thanks Kelvin Greenough. August 2005

Hi I bought some Engine Restore from you a few weeks back for my 1990 Mecedes 190e. The car had been to a workshop and I was told that I was losing oil that was getting past the rings and building up pressure.I thought the worst but I had seen your product on Ebay so thought I would give it a try. The car is now well again after 1500 miles it does not lose any oil,the acceleration is faster and I am getting an extra 14% on my MPG. Thanks for a wonderful product,I have just ordered 2 more cans. Regards Russ Harris August 2005

The 2 RESTORE cans arrived and I've driven about 380 miles with it in my Citroën XM VSX-CTS 2.0 litres turbo engine.

Sofar the fuelconsumption is already 17% lower and the effect of the engine is also considerably better - faster response and better acceleration.

I didn't expect it to work so fast and so good with my engine - but it did!

I can only say that I'm VERY PLEASED with my buy and I'll recommend it to everyone I know!

You'll hear from me again - later!

All the best from Sweden!

Karl-Otto June 2005

Dear enginerestore , Hi Dave. Bunged the engine restore in our series 3 Land Rover, and it was almost immediately smoother and quieter (ie we can now just about hear ourselves think). Fantastic stuff I'll order some more for our other Landy. Helen

To:         Owners of 2 Stroke Scooter and 4 stroke bikes with wet clutch (Honda)

 and Ametech ENGINE RESTORE

 From:       Technical Department, Ametech

 Hi Steve

YES you can even use RESTORE in Honda motorbike engines, with the following instructions and precautions:

1. You can treat any engine (2stroke or 4stroke) by adding a +/- teaspoon of RESTORE into each spark plug hole (or injector hole on diesels), and gently turning the engine over until the RESTORE has worked it's way down around the rings, then replace spark plugs (or injectors) and fire it up.....this works on all engines.......this repairs scratches in the cylinder bores and so improves compression and reduces blue smoke.....and improves mpg and power.

2. You can also treat any 4stroke (petrol or diesel ) by adding RESTORE [at the rate of one 250ml RESTORE can per 1000cc of engine capacity] to the engine oil (mineral or synthetic but not vegetable racing oil like Castor R). THERE IS AN EXCEPTION: some 4stroke motorbikes (ie Hondas) have a wet clutch with engine oil running through it - in this case you can safely treat as per para.1 above, or, we have now discovered you can introduce 1/2 can of RESTORE into the engine oil just prior to an oil change and run the bike in your back yard for an couple of hours (as long as possible without annoying the neighbours) reving occasionally ALL WITHOUT OPERATING THE CLUTCH. Then drain the old oil that has the remaining RESTORE in it and of course refill with fresh correct motorbike oil. Then when you ride away there is no RESTORE left to circulate and make the clutch slip. All the RESTORE has been absorbed and adsorbed into the crank bearings, big end and small end bearings, cylinder walls and piston rings by splash.  However the engine has indeed been RESTORED so you will notice more power, less smoke and better mpg.....

3. If you have worn valve guides we recommend removing the rocker cover (also called valve cover) and pouring a few drops of RESTORE directly onto each valve stem (through the spring) and cam wear surface. An old kitchen syringe works well (don't use it for anything else afterwards of course). This normally takes care of valve problems.

4. You can treat any 2stroke that has a separate oil resevoir by pouring in 1/2 can directly into the oil resevoir and topping up with normal quality 2T oil. The RESTORE will be splashed inside the engine and repair main and crank bearings and cylinder bores and rings. The engine will become very powerful as the RESTORE is absorbed and burnished into the wear points,  and results are lower blue smoke and better mpg of course. This should be treated as a one time repair on a scooter (i.e.once a year treatment). Please note RESTORE should never be put into petrol, or 2stroke petroil mix, as it may block the carb or injectors and we certainly don't want it combusting into the atmosphere as it contains copper silver lead = CSL.....

5. You can treat a manual gearbox or conventional differential, each with a teaspoon of RESTORE and get rid of the whine (NOT automatics or limited slip diffs, please as the clutch packs will slip).

trust this answers your question?

thks

enginerestore

"Dave, Will RESTORE help my Mercedes Benz low oil pressure and bad compression?"
Hi John, YES !
Just to clarify - Ametech Engine Restore Oil contains micro particles of CSL copper silver lead in a honeycomb matrix -under a microscope they look like the inside of chocolate malteser balls! These particles vary between 2micron and 16micron in diameter and find their way to every hot spot and wear point in the engine. The CSL particles will repair everything they touch: cylinders, pistons and rings, valve guides, crankshaft, main bearings, camshaft, bushings and bearings, oil pump gears and bushings, and bring dimensions back to very near to original specifications. We halt the repair process before it reaches 100% because we DON'T want the dimensions to be over-reduced from original (which would make the engine tight of course!). I can confirm that Ametech Engine Restore Oil will repair the 'wear' in your oil pressure system. It wont repair leaky oil seals, broken piston rings though. A worn engine has to be mechanically sound  for RESTORE to work it's magic... If you invest in a can for each engine litre,   and run the engine for 1000 miles (or 10hours) you will see the oil pressure slowly climb back to normal (and stay there!). Ametech Engine Restore Oil is a permanent repair to the engine... Regards  enginerestore

Following great success at Lord Montagu's Car Show at Beaulieu and the Land Rover Owner International Show in Peterborough, and the NEC Classic Car Show, we are pleased to share with you some comments from recent clients:

Hello , Just a quick note to say how pleased I am with the results acheived with your engine restore oil. One week ago, on hard acceleration, I would not be able to see the car behind for smoke, my car would splutter and it was not very smooth at all (sometimes thought it was a kangaroo). Now, after using engine restore, (about 180 miles driven so far), things are so much more different: Much less smoke; faster, smoother acceleration; and less engine noise. The car in question is a 37 year old Jag.

My other car, a Frontera , did not have a smoke or rough running problem, but was noisy and very sluggish. After putting in the engine restore oil, the reduction in noise was apparent within the first 20 miles!! Also, believe it or not, the Frontera  also accelerates quicker than it did before. Three different garages have attempted to improve the acceleration but each have said the engine compression was fine and the car was tuned correctly , "it must just be a slow car". We all know 4X4's are not the quickest of vehicles, but when a Morris Minor could pull away from the lights and keep up with me I knew something was not quite right.

Not so now! For the first time since owning the Frontera it has started to accelerate up hills that, until now, it was all it could do to maintain the same speed. Judging by the amount of miles travelled on the fuel that was in the tank, it would appear that the MPG has increased as well. I will calculate the fuel consumption this week and let you know of the results. For reference, at the last check the Frontera was getting approx 29.5 MPG only if I drove very sedately.

Needless to say, you can expect more orders from me in the future.Kind regards.Roland

Hi Dave , Whilst on vacation in Florida last year (June 2002) I purchased a tin of Engine Restore. When I got home I serviced my car (Nissan Micra 1986) changed the oil etc and added the Ametech Engine Restore. Well nothing happened in the short term, it is only lately that I have noticed a marked difference. The engine used to sound a bit like a stone rattling in an empty can with noticeable piston slap. Now it is considerably quieter and the piston slap has all but disappeared. I have not done anything to the car since last June so I can only attribute this to the Ametech Engine Restore. I know this seems strange that the product has taken 7/8 months to work but I am putting this down to the fact that my annual mileage is about 2.5 to 3k consisting of a 2 mile trip to the rail station daily and the odd 2/3 mile trip to the shops. The cars is 15 years old has had several owners and could have done any sort of mileage to what is showing on the clock (approx 50k). Well its time for another service and I want to use the product again, the only problem is that I can't find it for sale in England, there are contact addresses on the USA Engine Restore web site and trying several companies that are on Restores web site they do not ship outside of the US. So searching through the web I found you and wondered if you could help me with the address of Engine Restore UK to see if they can sell to me direct or to point me to a supplier in the UK or who can ship to England. Thanks for your help in advance. Roy C (original on file) Editor: We responded to Roy?s quest by opening a warehouse here in the UK, Ametech - Engine Restore UK Ltd.

Another satisfied client:

Hi,Bought some Ametech Engine Restore from you a few weeks ago and i'm writing to say how pleased and amazed i am with it. I own a 10 year old Rover Sterling 2.7 with 110,000 miles on clock and the engine used to sound like an old sewing machine tapping away.I was quoted about £500 to replace the hydraulic tappets which i was told would cure the noise. As that is about all the car is worth i didn't bother as the car still drove ok. Anyway, getting to the point, i changed the oil and filter about two weeks ago and added the Engine Restore and the tapping stopped straight away, incredible! I shall be buying this excellent product again. Thanks,Huw R

David, I should think I have covered over 500 miles by now and there is a difference.Idles has dropped by about 200rpm but the engine revs better and  is definetly crisper than before. It is certainly more like my other 164 now. Car in question is an alfa 164 with about 165,00 miles on original engine.Oil consumption will be interesting as they all use a drop.Oil pressure cant comment on as guage is faulty. A well worthwhile exercise for £10 ! regards john

Dear enginerestore, Hi as i said i would i have used your product and the car has travelled 502 miles since oil change and i have now sold the vehicle which was a Vauxhall Frontera 2.3td the guy who bought it said he had tried other similiar cars and this one had as he described it had more power than any of this year with 116000 on the clock .Thanks for selling my car as i think without it it would have been an also run Regards Barry Thank you

Dear enginerestore, When are you going to have some more Ametech Engine Restore for sale? I have changed my car after i stopped an oil leak by using 2 tins of the Engine restore and going on a round trip of 800 miles. So my new car is definitely getting THE treatment. Many thanks Jo-Ann

David; I bought some Restore and after 400 miles it is a huge improvement on my car. The engine was shaking before and missfiring and was blowing smoke. Now it maybe has a small purr.. it runs very smooth and it has so much more power. My car has 120,000 Mi and is starting to behave like a new car. Can I buy a case of Restore from you? Sincerely! Max

David, It's like 'Automotive Viagra' for your car. Thanks, Paul B
