Spherical cast-iron candleholder by C&C Holmgren for Illums Bolighus in 1973

A vintage cast-iron candleholder designed and produced in 1973 for Illums Bolighus by Christel & Christer Holmgren, aka C&C Holmgren, famous for designs for Holmegaard glassworks in the late 60s and early 70s. Formed of two halves that slot together with two anchoring pins, the candleholder has a diameter of 12.5cm (5 inches) and is very substantial, weighing around 1.5kg

The top half of the globe is simply lifted off the pins to replace the candle, which can a be tealight or a standard long candle
