Item:223294489187Historic Ceremonial Calumet Pipe of Northern Cheyenne Chief "Dull Knife" ca.1840. I am now selling this unique vintage and very historical ceremonial calumet pipe that belonged to the Northern Cheyenne Chief "Dull Knife" (also known as "Morning Star"), ca. 1840. The calumet pipe measures 1 meter! It was the ceremonial calumet pipe of the famous "Dog Soldier's warrior society" he headed before being the Chief of the Northern Cheyennes. A unique relic that was likely recovered during the battle of "Red Fork" (Wyoming), late 1876 (where almost all belongings of Cheyenne Chief -and Cheyenne camp- were recovered by US cavalry under the command of Colonel MacKenzie). This calumet pipe is photographed in a reference book on antique Indian smoking pipes (of note, aside this calumet pipe is photographed the "Dull Knife" Cheyenne chief!) . A unique opportunity to get a vintage piece of US history at a realistic bargain price as I need money. Any offer will be considered. AUTHENTICITY (TO THE INDIAN WARS PERIOD) IS GUARANTEED. NO COPY! Details: Total length: 1 meter (39.4 inches). Condition is very good as shown on photos (catlinite bowl was broken at one time and reglued, almost not visible). All is antique and untouched. This calumet pipe is a true mid-19th century museum relic, and the center piece of any collection of Native American artifacts. Of note, it can be seen at the bottom left of two photos showing my collection.
