Sulis Fine Art is delighted to present this fine and varied collection of etchings, aquatints and other prints by British artist Gillian Whaite.
Gillian Whaite was born in London in 1934, daughter of the artist Henry Clarence Whaite (1895-1978). Gillian studied at the Slade School of Fine Art from 1952-56, the University of London Institute of Education in 1958-59 and at the Royal Academy Schools in 1968-69. She became a lecturer at St. Gabriel's College of Education in 1959.
Whaite exhibited frequently throughout her career, including the Camden Arts Centre in 1982 and Royal Free Hospital in 1983. Gillian also exhibited with her father at South London Art Gallery in 1979.
Gillian passed away in 2012. Her work is held by the Worshipful Company of Fishmongers, and the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation at Mellon University in Pittsburgh, USA.

Originally known as Royal Art, the business worked closely with artists and museum institutions, developing a reputation for creating fine frames. Royal Art passed through the family and eventually evolved into Sulis, now run by Benjamin's grandson Bill, and his son Dan.
Based in the South West of England, we source art from across the British Isles and ship worldwide. We handpick all our stock and we've grown into a ten-strong team of art historians, photographers, restorers, studio technicians and despatchers.
We relocated to our Corsham studio in early 2020, leaving behind our small garden workshops in Bradford-on-Avon that had been our base for several successful years. Now located on the edge of the Cotswolds, our current home allows the team to work alongside our large catalogue of artworks, allowing us to provide you with fast global shipping and top-notch customer service. We are always striving to connect people with the art they love.
