Here we have a genuine Antique Miniature Plaster Gesso Plaque, made in Italy in the first part of the 19th Century, and brought back in England probably as a Grand Tour Souvenir in the late Georgian Era.
Beautiful Plaque depicting Jesus and his Disciples.
Signed (in the casting) "F Putinati F 1827", this is a Plaster Cast by Francesco Putinati, (Verona, 1775 - Milan, 1848), an Italian sculptor and engraver. He was also an engraver for the Milan Mint as well as the author of various busts, portraits, medallions and bas-reliefs.
He can be considered one of the most renowned neoclassical medalists.
At the back there is a handwritten note with some history.
In overall fair conditions commensurate with age.
The original glazed casing is ok, but there is a crack running along the plaque horizontally and some damage at an internal corner.
