Item:113850357346A Beautiful Fine Quality French Polished and Gilt Brass CHAMPLEVE Enamel 8 Day Mantle / Table Clock. The clock dates I would think to the end of the 19th Century. The Beautiful polished brass case is decorated with gilt brass Corinthian style gilt capitals to the fine Champleve enamel pillars which flank either side of the dial. The front of the case is further decorated with a Champleve cartouche type panel. There is a small inscribed brass presentation plaque screwed to the base of the clock, presented to Alexander Fleming in 1902.The top of the case is surmounted by a Champleve enamel urn and gilt brass finials. The clock is of a substantial size and not small like many champleve clocks are.The clock measures approximately 14.5 inches High, 8.5 inches wide and 6 inches deep.The high quality 8 Day movement is by prestigious French clock makers A. D. Mougin of Paris, who were one of the finest makers of the period and won two Gold medals at Paris exhibitions. The movement is in working order, but does sometimes stop, so selling as requiring a service, adjustment as necessary on a spares / repairs basis, No returns.
