Vintage Otsu-e Handcrafted Woodblock Print
Framed matted and under glass
Otsu-e was a style of folk art paintings made as souvenirs for travelers passing through the city of Otsu using the route from Tokyo to Kyoto. They were popular through the late 19th century when rail transportation became the prominent means of travel. This woodblock print was created with Japanese pigments on brown paper. It has been professionally framed with a burnt orange mat and a black frame. It has a sealed paper backing and hanging hardware. This item matches another print listed.
Measures ~ 29 1/2" L x 15" W x 1 1/4" D
In great vintage condition. Without tears or stains. There is minor wrinkling and some creases on the paper. The glass is intact. The frame has some minor paint loss in a few places. Please review the pictures as they are part of the description.
