Item:293225060150A very elegant mid 19th Century Four Glass French Clock. Solid brass case with beveled glass to four sides. Full size brass framed glass opening doors to front and back. Comes with key Case W17 D 14 H29 cm. 4.4KG. Brass drum movement (82 mm dia) with exposed Brocot escapement. Escape wheel, escape arbor bridge, jewel pallets on pallet frame and pallet arbor cock sit exposed on a front sub dial plate (with white enamel centre) which fits over the striking work on the front main plate. The main dial ring (white enamel) then fits on top of the front sub dial plate. Makers name AD Mougin stamped on back plate together with the mark GR & 745. Numbers 5&3 stamped on either side of the bottom pillar hole. Outside enamel dial ring has painted roman numerals and no makers name. Blued steel hands. Twin turned brass cylinders replace previous damaged mercury phials on the pendulum. Rack striking mechanism striking a bell on the hour and half hour. Brocot regulator on the back cock with squared arbor penetrating through dial above 12 numeral. The movement is supported by one bracket attached to the brass top of the case and two brackets attached to the front side members of the case. Target rate: 9216 (train count) The case and maovement are in good antque condition. The glass is thick and unchipped except for a very slight chip to the bottom corner of the back door glass. There are hairline fractures to the dial and these have been repaired in the past but are still visible. Please see pictures. Works carried out: In addition to full disassembly, clean, lubrication and reassembly. Removed and re-fitted (with shellac) correctly sized pallet jewels. Adjusted depthing of escape wheel and pallets such that recoil removed and sufficient impulse given. Turned two pointed brass cylinders to take place of damaged mercury phials on pendulum. Adjusted and fitted a new pendulum suspension spring. Straightened end tooth of rack. Rectified centre arbor back pivot by filing and burnishing and re-finished all other pivots requiring attention. Straightened lifter such that half hour pin on minute wheel triggers strike Timekeeping assessment: Beat +/- 2% adjustable. Rate: With timer set to time 64 beats, consecutive readings do not vary by more than 0.5 BPH. Variation remains constant over 7 days. Over 7 days: Day 1: 9217.Day 3: 9215 Day 7: 9213. Accurate to within 1 minute per week. Duration: Movement runs for 9 days.Condition:Fully overhauled and serviced.
