The case is later 17th c but the movement has been replaced in the 19th c with a standard French spring driven movement. Ebonised pear wood veneered case with inlaid brass lines. Nice old polished surface to the case. Gilt brass case ornaments. Typical velvet backed dial with gilt brass dial furniture of typical ‘Religieuse’ type. Fine quality dial ornament depicting Apollo (Sun god) driving his sun chariot across the sky.
