Original editorial blue cloth with gilt lettering on spine and front board still bright, spine worn at tail and head, minimal signs of wear on the boards, endpapers slightly browned, last page (index) and advert with light crease, overall a very good, nice copy.

A scarce, very early edition (reprint of the first) of this famous handbook which went through several editions until the 1940s, profusely illustrated by diagrams and b/w photos. This book was a standard work of its time for all would-be operators studying to qualify for the Postmaster-General's certificate. From the second edition in 1915 Harry Melville Dowsett took over the work. Each edition is quite interesting and different from the others, presenting the current technology of the period.
