This lovely box has a shield shaped key cartouche and key. It measures approximately 39cm long x 28.5cm wide x 20.5cm deep. It features: one brass, lie flat, handled drawer that locks in place with a brass pin from inside the locked cabinet there by making it secure. two inkwell holders that have the original embossed pattern on the base a string note holder on one door, a quill, letter opener well stepped and divided letter/ note paper racks in timber with all original dividers. The extras included are: a glass ink pot (not original) with silver plated flip top lid bovine letter opener with 'Kynoch Ltd.' trademark imprinted. an unused ‘Penny Postage Jubilee 1890’ postcard and envelope. a used 'Ellen H. Clapsaddle' Christmas postcard sent from America 1912 with U.S. postage stamp. an Edward the 8th 1937 calendar booklet a Scottish embossed Christmas Card ‘Scotland forever’ used one penny stamps working key (sometimes sticks) Condition: This writing box Is in a well loved and well used condition with signs of use and some repairs over the ages evident. The doors don’t quit meet up and there are bits scuffed off it here and there and marks of use. The key sometime sticks. Having said that, the box is in solid condition and is ready for use.
