These were used a lot in the Civil Way but this one may or may not have been. Ones this fancy could have been used by an officer, Congressman, Senator, or basic rich person. Although, people grain painted items was to take wood like pine and make it look like mahogany. I wasn't here back then so I couldn't tell you except what I think I know. The experts know though. I will start this at $95.00 but it is worth more than $400.00 This desk is 111/2" long by 8 3/4" wide by 4" deep. As always, NO Reserve and I stand behind everything that I sell.
