Magnificent old Chinese hand painted Porcelain Melon form Spice Jar, 8" wide by 11.5" tall plus lid, total of 13" tall, circa 1862-1873 with blue Lion of Foo decoration on a Celadon background.  Ching Dynasty, Tung Chih period.  It weighs 7.5 pounds before packaging.  Very good condition.  It has no cracks, repairs, hairlines, or crazing, save for four chips on the lid and a sealed base firing crack.  These are sometimes called "melon jars" due to their melon like shape.  You do not see these jars very often any more.  This came from an oriental antique shop in Evanston, Illinois called Alaeddin's Lamp, 19 years ago.  Guaranteed old.  See photos, which are a part of the description.
