ITEM DESCRIPTION: This listing is for one collection of antique Central Petroleum Oil Company and Columbia Paints, Varnishes, and Fibre Coating Company letters, advertisements, and sales sample kits.  This collection dates from 1925 - 1927.  The collection contains 75 pieces.  Please see the detailed listing below for a description of the collection items.  Please see photos for a closer look at the condition of this collection. We are happy to answer any questions about this listing and provide additional detailed photographs and transcripts of documents upon request. This antique collection of a salesman's documents and sales aids would make a unique addition to any historical collection.   The collection contains:  1.) One set of Central Petroleum Oil samples in traveling case.  This black case measures approximately 6 by 4 1/4 by 1 1/2 inches.  The case opens with a snap closure to reveal the words "CENTRAL PETROLEUM CO, OILS AND PAINTS, CLEVELAND, OHIO" on the inside flap.  The case contains 18 glass tubes of Central Petroleum oil with cork stoppers and one piece of wool or cotton material used to separate the sides and decrease risk of breakage.  The tubes are labled including but not limited to, Auto Oil "D"(Heavy), Truck Oil "E-H" (Heavy), and Tractor Oil, "T-D" (Extra Heavy). The labels have some discoloration from stains and age.  The tubes appear full except for one tube that appears to be at 1/4 full and one tube that appears to be approximately 1/10 full.  Please note that these tubes will be packaged individually for shipment.   2.) Set of 14 order slips and 3 order envelopes.  The order slips are yellow in color and have an order date spot of "192__"   Eight of the order slips are loosely glued to a cardboard backing.  The glue seam is very loose and the order slips are only barely attached at the top edge.  Six of the order slips are loose.  One loose order slip has holes on the right edge.  One loose order slip has an uneven left edge and holes on the right edge. There are three order envelopes.  The envelopes are addressed to "Central Petroleum Company, General Offices: Century Building, Cleveland, Ohio."  The bottom left corner of the envelope reads "Orders Rush!"  The envelopes have some yellowing from age.  The back flap of all three envelopes are sealed closed from age and storage.  One flap has a small tear on the right side.   3.) Selling Price List of Central Petroleum Company.  This green booklet measures approximately 6 inches by 3 1/2 inches.  The price list cover reads "Selling Price List of Central Petroleum Company, Highest Quality, Oils, Greases, Paints, and Roofing Materials, Effective January 1st, 1926, F.O.B., Our Shipping Points, Or (This word is smudged) Warehouses.  This 24 page booklet lists prices for CEN-PO-CO Truck oils, tractor oils, zero oils, Special Ford Motor Oils, Central Motor Oils, Central Tractor Oils, Other Motor Oils, Gas Engine Oils, Steam Cylinder Oils, Steam Turbine and Power Separator OIl, General Lubricating Oil, Specialties, Mine Car Lubricant, LITE-SPRA FLoor Oil, Economy Greases, and Axle Grease.  The booklet also contains price lists for Columbia Paints including,  "Quality Brand" House Paint, "Service Brand" House Paint, Barn and Building Paints, Fibre Roof Coating, Protex Liquid Asbestos Roof Cement,  Roof and Iron Paint, Slate-Surface Roofing, Roofing,  Factory Paint,  Mill White,  Hot Surface Enamel,  Glazing Cement,  Boiler Seal,  Graphite Paints,  Bridge Paint, Traffic Paint, Varnish Stains, Shingle Stains, Cement Paint, Interior Enamel Paint, Snow White Enamel, Floor Paints, Flat Wall Finish, Wall Sealer, Automobile and Carriage Paint, Wagon and Implement Paint. Varnishes, Screen Paint, and Wood Filler.  The booklet's upper right corner is torn for all pages except front cover.  The cover has some wear from age and storage including a water drop or stain on the word "Or." 4.) Flyer titled "Lubricating The Tractor With Cen-Pe-Co TRACTOR OILS."  This flyer is blank ink printed on white paper and measures approximately 8 1/2 inches by 5 1/2 inches.  The flyer is numbered "11-35 15M" on the bottom left corner.  The flyer is creased twice horizontally.  The top crease has several holes.  The right side of the flyer has uneven edges at the creases.  The flyer has some yellowing from age.  5.) Black and Orange Color Advertisement for Columbia Fibre Coating.  This flyer measures approximately 7 inches by 9 3/4 inches.  The front reads "Columbia Fibre Coating, The Modern Roofing Material." at the top.  The front cover shows a black and white photo of men coating a rooftop at the Roach & Musser Co., Muscatine, Iowa.  This flyer opens to reveal black and white photos and information about the fibre coating.  The back of the flyer shows receipts from companies that purchased the coating and a guarantee that the Columbia Fibre Coating will "Make your roof waterproof for a period of ten (10) years." This advertisement has a faded water stain on the bottom of the pages and on the front cover's photograph. There is a water stain on the middle of each page. The advertisement has two horizontal creases and a tear on the right side of the upper fold. There are two small torn spots on the right side. The paper has some yellowing with age.  6.) Columbia Quality Paints advertisement.  This advertisement measures approximately 8 inches by 11 inches.  The front cover reads "Columbia Quality Paints, Most Economical In Price, Longest In Wear."  The advertisement opens to show a drawing of a house with a green roof and the words, "Columbia Ready Mixed House Paint," on the right side.  The left side features a drawing of a red barn with the words, "Columbia Barn Paint, Adds Beauty and Protection to All Farm Buildings."  The back of the advertisement reads, "The Ford Motor Company Uses Columbia Fibre Coating.  Follow Ford - He Knows."  The advertisement has two horizontal creases from folding and minimal discoloration from age and storage. 7.)  Columbia Paint and Varnish Fibre Coating Sample Case.  This black case measures approximately 7 1/4 by 6 3/4 inches.  The case unfolds to reveal four different samples of coating - Columbia Fibre Coating Black (Medium), Columbia Fiber Coating Black (Heavy), Columbia Fibre Coating Maroon (Medium), and Columbia Fibre Coating Black (Medium.)  There may be some mistake with the sticker placement labeling the samples.  The first Black Medium Sample looks to be maroon color.  The case has some wear along the folding crease line.  8.) Paper titled "How To Apply Columbia Fibre Coating."  This paper measures approximately 6 1/2 inches by 9 1/2 inches.  This paper lists instructions for how to treat gravel roofs, cement or concrete roofs, shingle roofs, tin and metal roofs, and standing seam roofs.  This paper has one horizontal crease from folding.  There is one small hole in the crease line.  This paper has a stain in two lines across the word "to" in the title.  The paper has some yellowing from age and storage.  9.) Letter dated April 27th, 1926.  This letter is on the Central Petroleum Company Letterhead.  It is addressed to Mr. A.C. Harris in Jonesville, Va.  This letter reads in part, "It seems mighty good to have you back on the job again and I trust that you will keep the orders rolling steadily each week from now on."  The letter is signed C.A. Legg, General Manager, in purple ink, possibly a stamped signature.  The second page of the letter is titled "Columbia Ready Mixed Paints."  The second page is front and back information about the paint line.  These pages hare creased once horizontally and twice vertically.  The pages have some yellowing from age.  The letter comes with an envelope stamped with the date 1926.  The envelope has some staining on the front and back.  The envelope is slit across the top and has some discoloration from age.   10.) Letter dated May 6th, 1926.  This letter is on Central Petroleum Company letterhead and is addressed to A. C. Harris in Va.  This letter reads in part, "I want to acknowledge yours just recieved and to assure you that we are rushing out every order with the greatest possibly speed - so yours will get immediate attention.  I feel that I should expect a big business from you right now.  From the way the other boys are stepping along there seems to be a tremendous number of orders being placed at this time."  This letter is signed C.A. Legg, General Manager.  The second page of this letter is titled "CLEAN UP - PAINT UP - NOW."  This page reads in part, "Never before -- and probably never again - will Columbia Paints be the bargain that they are today."  This letter comes with an envelope dated May 6th, 1926.  The envelop has pencil markings of numbers and names on the front and back.  The second page of the letter has three words written in pencil and underlined on the back.  The envelope is slit along the bottom, top, and left side. The envelope has the back flap of a different envelope attached to the front of it.  The pages and the envelope have a large tear at where the pages meet at the bottom of the envelope's left corner. The tear is at the top crease and the bottom corner of the paper due to the way the pages were folded and stored in the envelope.  The pages and envelope have some yellowing from age and storage. 11.) Set of 5 Special Free Advertising Offer coupons.  These coupons measure approximately 5 3/4 by 3 1/2 inches.  They are printed in black ink on white paper.  The flyers are loosely stuck together at the base like a booklet.  The flyers read in part, "Special Free Adverting Offer to Five Customers In Each County, Good Only Until June 1st, 1926,"  and "Special Reduced Price, Free Premium With Order."  The back of the flyer reads in part, "A Chance to Save Money on Your Paint."  the back has a spot for the customer to fill in the order, a spot for the customer to sign, and a spot for the salesman to sign.  The last coupon has a water stain on the spot for the customer signature.  The coupons have some yellowing from age.  12.) Special Advertising Offer - this offer has no date.  The top shows a black and white drawing of five men in business suits running in a line with the words "LET'S GO For The Big Paint Season" printed in red ink. The offer is printed on the front and back of one page.  It reads in part, "This Special Offer is a reall opportunity to five customers.  For simply letting you put up a sign - and for giving you the names and addresses of any prospective paint buyers - you can allow them a Special Reduction of 20 CENTS A GALLON on House paint and 10 CENTS A GALLON on Barn Paint."  The page is signed with a stamped signature of C.A. Legg, General Manager.  This offer comes with an envelope.  The envelope is slit along the top and sides.  The envelope has words written in pencil on the back.  The envelope has uneven edges and some discoloration from age and storage.  The offer paper has one horizontal fold and two vertical folds.  The paper has some yellowing and discoloration from age.  13.) Letter dated 1927.  This letter has a header reading "Bring Home The Bacon" in orange ink above a black and white drawing of a man wearing a hat and carrying a case with the word "Orders" written on it.  The words "With Columbia Fibre Coating" is written in large black letters below the picture.  This letter details reasons to sell fibre coating and lists examples of how much other salesmen have sold.  The letter reads in part, "Mr. S. P. Callahan, of Pennsylvania, has been selling over 1000 GALLONS A MONTH for the last five years."  This letter has a stamped signature that reads "P.T. Webser."  The letter comes with a order form for "1 COMPLETE PAINT OUTFIT (With Carrying Case)" for a "special" price of $2.00.  The letter comes with a flyer titled "How To Build A Columbia Fibre Coating Business," and a flyer titled "HERE'S AN EASY SURE WAY TO SELL PAINT," printed in blue ink on white paper.  The letter also comes with a 12 page pamphlet titled "HOW TO SELL COLUMBIA FIBRE COATING," and a paper with a drawing of two hands holding a brush handle while a barrel of tar pours onto a roof under the words, "STOP THOSE LEAKS!"  The letter also comes with an envelope.  The letter, envelope, and "STOP THOSE LEAKS" paper all have brown staining on one side.  The pamphlet titled, "HOW TO SELL COLUMBIA FIBRE COATING" has a small brown stain on the top edge. The paper and envelope have some discoloration from age.   The envelope is open on the right back side.  14.)  A 16 page pamphlet titled "How To Handle Orders and Special Selling Instructions for Central Salesmen."  The front cover of this pamphlet reads, "This Book is for the EXCLUSIVE USE of Salesmen Representing this Company," and shows the CPCO logo.  This pamphlet contains but is not limited to information about quantity of paint sold, fuel and road oil, making out orders, territory, profit on each order, big buyer's price, quoting prices, collections, whom to sell, shipping dates, and more.  The pamphlet has two small holes on the bottom left corner of the front cover.  The staples have left some rust marks on the interior pages.  The pamphlet has minimal yellowing with age.  15.) A 32 page booklet titled "Hand Book on Central Products, Description of Products and Special Selling Information."  This booklet measures approximately 7 3/4 inches by 5 1/4 inches.   This handbook has a blue/gray cover and includes information on but not limited to, CEN-PE-CO Truck Oils, Lubricating the Ford Car, Transmission Oils, Economy Greases, Columbia Roll Roofing, Columbia Varnishes, Columbia Fibre Roof Caoting, Approaching A Customer, Price Counts Only Where Quality Is Equal, and more.  This booklet has some staining from rust on the staples.  There is some color fading and discoloration on the front and back covers. The front cover and pages are bent slightly on the right hand side.  Pages 1 through 4 have a small fold on the bottom outer corner.  There is a slight bend on the bottom of the pages near the binding.  The pages have minimal discoloration from age.  16.) A 32 page manual copyright 1925 titled "Salesman's Lubrication Manual for Cen-Pe-Co Motor Oils, Scientific Lubrication Means Longer Life to the  Motor."  This manual has a light green cover with green ink.  The manual covers topics including but not limited to, Lubrication on a Mileage Basis Only Correct Method, Why A Motor Wears Out, Service Chart, Winter Driving, and more.  There are charts for the amount of oil recommended for Pleasure Cars and Trucks including Acme Truck, Bell Truck, Buick, Cadillac, Checker Cab, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Comet, Dart Truck, Dusenberg, Eagle Six, Elgin, Fiat, Ford, Fulton, G.M.C. Truck, Huffman, Italia, Kalamazoo Truck, Kenworty, Keystone, Lincoln, Lone Star, Mack Fire Pump, Mercer, Morris London, Nash, Packard Eight, Piedmont, Pierce-Arrow, Riker, Rolls Royce, Sampson Truck, Skelton, Studebaker, Triumph Truck, and more.  There is also a Tractor Service Chart which includes but is not limited to the models Acme, All Work, Avery, Baby Do-It-All, Big Farmer, Case, Caterpillar, Coleman, Dixie Ace, Farm Horse, Happy Farmer, Hicks, Klumb, Knudsen, Lincoln, Massey-Harris, Monarch, Neverslip, Oliver, Plowman, Reed, Savidge, Triumph, Victory, Winnebago, and more. This booklet has minimal rust stains at the site of the staples.  The pages have minimal yellowing with age. This booklet measures approximately 6 3/4 by 4 1/2 inches. 17.) Central Petroleum Company Order Form Booklet with Carbon Copy Paper.  This order form booklet has one piece of carbon paper, four thin pieces of paper (like onion skin) with carbon copies of signatures, orders, and dates.  The dates include April 21, 1926 and April 29, 1926.  The booklet has 11 blank order forms.  The order form includes the page to be sent to Central Petroleum, the page to be given to the customer, and the thin paper that remains attached to the booklet.  This booklet measures approximately 8 1/2 by 5 inches.  The outer cover is blank.  The binding at the top is red in color. The front cover is made of card-stock, the back cover of the booklet is cardboard.   The interior cover is titled "Instructions, Read Carefully" and includes a list of 11 instructions for filling out the forms.  The form has blanks for the date, customers name and address, freight station, credit terms, cash terms, lines for item's purchased, signature of buyer, bank reference, and salesman's name and home address. The back of the order form includes blanks left for information needed by the credit department.  The questions include but are not limited to, "If he is the son of a farmer, and just helping his father, give father's name and address," and "If you sell a married woman, state here her husband's full name," and "Is your customer white or colored?  Married?"   There is a slip of paper detailing the information on the "Our Time Payment Plan" included in the booklet.  The paper reads in part, "Farmers - 20 to 90 days from date of shipment."  The cover of the booklet has some stain spots and yellowing from age.  The order forms to be mailed to Central Petroleum have minimal yellowing from age.  The Customer Copies have more yellowing from age and storage.  18.) A folded flyer titled "How To Make Greater Profits as a Central Salesman."  This paper is printed with orange and blank ink.  The paper offers information on topics including but not limited to, "Stocking and Distributing, Small Paint Orders, The 5 and 10 Gallon Oil Orders," and more.  The paper has been folded twice horizontally.  There is a small tear on the bottom horizontal. The bottom right hand corner has a small fold. This paper has minimal yellowing from age.   19.)  Two blank order forms titled "ORDER BLANK for SPECIAL OIL OFFER."  The order blank reads in part, "Dear Mr. Legg: - I am going to take advantage of your FREE OFFER on 10 Barrels of Oil.  Kindly ship my order shown below at once and find enclosed $------- to cover same."  These forms measure approximately 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches.  The forms have been folded twice and have two horizontal creases.  The forms come with one envelope addressed to the Central Petroleum Company.  The bottom left corner of the envelope reads "Mailing Dept. Deliver this letter as soon as received to C.A. LEGG for special treatment."  The order blanks and the envelope have some discoloration from age and storage.  The envelope is sealed closed.  20.) Flyer titled "You Can Get Those Orders NOW for Harvest and Fall Plowing."  This flyer measures approximately 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches.  This flyer reads in part, "Harvest and Fall Plowing time is only a little way ahead.  Now it the time the farmer places his orders for his oils to be used at that time."  This flyer is printed in black ink on white paper.  The flyer has two horizontal folds. The flyer has a small wrinkle above the first fold.  The flyer has minimal discoloration from age.  21.) Page titled "FREE PAINT for Your Own Home."  This page reads in part, "Special Premium Offer to Central Salesmen," and "Here's Your Chance to Paint Your House for Nothing."  This page is printed in blue ink on white paper. The page has two horizontal folds.  The page has a tear on the right side of the first fold.  The page has a small tear on the upper left side.  The page has some discoloration from age and storage.  22.)  Coupon titled "FREE - One Barrel - FREE."  This coupon is printed in orange ink on white paper.  It measures approximately 6 inches by 3 1/2 inches. The coupon reads in part, "A Real Money-Making Opportunity.  10 barrels of oil will cost you less than $ 200.00.  You make at least $10.00 a barrel or $100.00 - plus the FREE BARREL - which is worth $30.00."  This coupon has some yellowing from age.  23.) Order Blank for Paint titled "SPECIAL FREE PAINT OFFER."  This order blank measures approximately 8 1/2 by 5  1/2 inches.  The blank reads in part, "DEAR MR. LEGG: -, I am going to take advantage of your FREE PAINT OFFER.  Send me the following order of paint for my own home and enclosed find $---------."  This order blank has two horizontal folds.  The order blank has an ink smudge on the upper left side.  The blank has some yellowing from age and storage.  24.) Order form titled "COLUMBIA AUTO-NAMEL KIT."  This form measures approximately 5 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches and is printed in blank ink on white paper.  It reads in part, "A "Factory-Finish" At Home."  The order form has minimal discoloration.  25.)  Letter with envelope dated 1925.  The letter is two pages, front and back. It is printed on Central Petrol Company Stationary.  The letter is titled, "BULLETIN #4, OUR NEW TERMS TO FARMERS OCTOBER 1ST, 1925."  This letter reads in part, "We are off - on our Big Smashing Campaign - for Spring Paint Orders.  I've made a bet with myself - to sell more paint this year than any other Company - and we are going to do it."  This letter is signed with a stamped signature reading "C.A. Legg."  This letter has two horizontal folds.  The letter has a tear on the left side of the upper fold on both pages. The pages have an uneven top edge. The envelope has been opened on the top and left side.  The back flap of the envelope has been folded down and the side flap titled, "Pull Out for Postal Inspection" is bent on the upper corner.  This letter and envelop have some discoloration. The envelope is torn on the bottom left edge.  There is a stain on the front of the envelope above the address.  26.) Letter with envelope, advertisement example, paint coupon, oil coupon, paint demonstration flyer, and Columbia Slate-Surface Shingles pamphlet.  This letter shows a boxer hitting a wall with the words, "SMASH!  go Prices, June 1st, July 15th."  The letter reads in part, "To C-E-L-E-B-R-A-T-E OUR 16th ANNIVERSARY.  20 Cents Off on Quality Brand House Paint, 10 Cents Off on Service Brand House Paint, 10 Cents Off on all Barn Paints except Old Standby Bright Red which is 5 cents off," and "Celebration Sale Closes July 15th, 1927."  The letter is signed with blue ink stamp and reads "P.T. Webster, General Manager." The envelope is torn on the left side with the left flap removed.  The envelop has pencil markings of numbers and dollar signs on the front and back.  The letter has two horizontal folds.  The letter and envelope have some discoloration from age and storage.  The envelope has brown stains on front.   The advertisement example header reads "Read The Advertisement Shown Below And See How One Central Salesman Gets Results And What He Thinks of Cen-Pe-Co Oils."  The example reads in part, "DO YOU KNOW THAT A FULL GROWN OSTRICH WEIGHS ABOUT 900 LBS and that they have the smallest mental powers of any living thing? And do you know that an automobile properly oiled will last twice as long as one that isn't?  NOW LISTEN!"  The example has two horizontal folds, some wrinkles on the right side, and small holes in the right side. The paint coupon is titled "Your Last Chance on My Special Free Paint Offer" and is printed in black ink on white paper.  The bottom of the paper has an order blank to detach and mail in.  The coupon has two horizontal folds and minimal discoloration.  The oil coupon measures approximately 6 inches by 3 1/2 inches.  The coupon reads in part, "FREE === ONE 5 GALLON CAN O OUR NEW Cen-PepCo Non-Chatter Ford Oil === FREE..'  The coupon is printed in blue ink on white paper.    The back of the coupon has information including, "What CEN-PE-CO Non-Chatter Means To You," and "Your Chance For Big Profits."  The coupon has minimal discoloration on the top edge.  The Paint Demonstration flyer measures approximately 8 3/4 inches by 6 inches.  It is printed in brown ink on white paper and shows a drawing of a man in a business suite painting a strip of white on another man's house.  The title reads, "Demonstrate Your Paints, Show Your Customers What Fine Paints You Have."  The flyer has two vertical folds. It has some discoloration from age and storage.  The Columbia Slate-Surface Shingles pamphlet is printed in red, green, and black inks on white paper.  It features drawings of a house with green roof and a barn with a red roof.  the pamphlet has one horizontal fold at the top and two vertical folds.  The paper has minimal discoloration from age. 27.)Two Special Paint Demonstration Outfit Order Blanks.  The blanks are printed in black ink on pink paper. The first blank measures approximately 6 3/4 by 5 1/4 inches and has a horizontal fold.  The second blank measures approximately 5 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches.  The second blank has a large rip with approximately 1 inch wide tear on the right side.  The blanks have minimal discoloration. 28.) Letter with envelope.  This letter is not dated. It is on the Central Petroleum Company stationary.  It reads in part, "Make Columbia House And Barn Paints Your Leaders During The Painting Season; The big advantage of our line is that it places in your hands two- yes three - big selling lines."  This letter is signed with a purple color ink stamp reading C.A. Legg. This letter has a stain near the middle and a water stain or discoloration spot on the word "Petroleum" in the heading.  This letter has two horizontal folds.  The envelope has a stain on the middle bottom and is torn on the bottom edge and bottom right corner. The envelope has names written in pencil on the back.  The letter and envelope have some discoloration from age and storage.  29.) Letter with envelope dated 1926, Pump Coupon, Order Blank, and flyer for Non-Chatter Ford Oil. This letter is on the Central Petroleum Company stationary.  It reads in part, "Our Distributors' Selling Plan Means Extra Profits For You:  Before looking over the enclosed folder I want you to read this letter which will tell you the reason and purpose of this new selling plan and what it will mean to your business." The letter has two horizontal folds and is signed with a purple colored ink stamp that reads, "C.A. Legg."  This letter has some staining and discoloration from age and sun bleaching.  There is a black ink smear on the top of the back of the letter. The envelope is open on the top and both sides.  The back flap is torn on the left side.  The edges of the envelope are worn and uneven.  The bottom of the envelope has tears along the fold line.  There are numbers written in pencil on the back of the envelope, and a scribble line in pencil on the front.  The envelope is discolored from age and storage.  The Pump Coupon measures approximately 5 1/2 inches by 3 1/4 inches.  It is printed in red and black ink on white paper.  The coupon reads in part, "Free Pump Coupon," and "This Coupon Entitles You To One Automatic Oil Pump FREE On This Small Distributors' Stock Order."  This coupon has minimal discoloration from age and storage. The Order blank measures approximately 9 by 6 inches and is printed in black ink on white paper.  The title reads, "BUY-STOCK-AND RESELL," and "Take care of the small buyer as well as the large one from a stock on hand."  The front of the blank features quotes from distributors who have ordered stock on hand.  The back of the order blank includes spots for products purchased, name in full, street address, Post-office town, Freight Station, Name of County where Freight Station is Located, and Address of Bank.  This order blank has minimal yellowing from age and storage. The Flyer for Non-Chatter Ford Oil featurs a drawing of one family in a 1920's car smiling and listening to bird tweets while taking a smooth drive and another family in a 1920's car shaking so much that the child is falling out of the back seat.  The words "Mama HELP!" are written beside the second family.  The words above the drawing read, "take that shiver out of your fliver."  This flyer reads in part, "YES, SIR, You can take that shiver and "Chatter" out of your fliver - and I don't mean maybe.   Central Non-Chatter Ford Oil will do the trick."  The flyer has two horizontal folds with some tears along the top fold.  The paper has yellowing from age and storage. 30.) Letter dated April 15th, 1926.  This letter comes with an envelope.  The letter is on Central Petroleum Company Stationary.  It reads in part, "Dear Mr. Harris:  Your letter has been received and I am very pleased to hear from you and see that you are going to drive hard for the orders this year," and "Be enthusiastic - be persistent when calling on customers.  When you can't sell a man oil, sell him paint."  The letter is signed with purple ink stamp reading "C.A. Legg."  The letter comes with a second page titled, "THERE IS A BIG OIL BUSINESS RIGHT NOW.  LET'S GET IT."  A third page is titled "What do YOUR customers say?"  The third page reads in part, "What are the reasons, excuses and objections that your customers offer you for not buying?" There are several lines for the salesman to list any questions, objections, or excuses from his customers.  The bottom of the page reads, "FILL THIS PAGE UP - AND MAIL IT TO ME. C. A. LEGG."  This letter and additional pages all have two horizontal folds. There is some discoloration from age and storage including a brown stained line on the back of the third page. The envelope is split open at the top and the top of the back flap is missing.  The envelope has a paper strip glued to the front above the address.  The bottom right side of the envelope is torn.  The envelope has some discoloration from age and storage.  31.)  Booklet of Customer Reviews.  This booklet contains 20 pages.  There is no cover.  The booklet front page is reads in part, "The best tractor oil he ever used.  Read What Some of Our Oil Customers Have to Say:"  Testimonials from around the country are written for oil, paints, and fibre coating.  The booklet measures approximately 6 inches by 3 inches. Testimonials read in part, "Used six barrels - wants more," and "My barn looks fine."  The booklet has some yellowing and discoloration from age and storage.  The staples have rusted and left rust marks along the interior spine.  This unique collection is a one of a kind glimpse into the life of a Central Petroleum Oil Salesman during the years of 1925 to 1927.  This set would make a wonderful addition to any collection.  Please let us know if you have any questions about any of the items in the collection.
