Description
Drosera Capensis - Commonly known as Cape Sundew, Drosera Capensis, is a carnivorous plant that works by wrapping its interesting, unique stems around insects that land on it to stop them from escaping. With an unusual but eye-catching aesthetic and a practical use, it's ideal for the sunny spots around the house and a perfect addition to the windowsill.
Please note: Some houseplants are toxic or harmful to pets if ingested. If you believe your pet has consumed a poisonous plant then seek veterinary attention immediately. Take a sample of the plant with you.
Ideal For: House Plants, Desk, Windowsill Hardiness: Tender Position In: Full sun, Sun or semi shade Height: Up to 15cm Spread: Up to 20cm Drosera Capensis is supplied in a 9cm Pot.
How To Grow
Grow in specialist carnivorous soil, placed in full sun or semi shade. An ideal starter house plant that is easier to grow and maintain than the venus flytrap. Grows well with other houseplants so small flies can live on the compost.
More Info
Water this plant regularly throughout the growing season. Best watered from below, using a saucer filled with 1cm of soft water placed beneath the pot so water can be absorbed through the roots. Place water-filled saucer on a tray of gravel to keep humidity raised. When the plant is dormant, only water when the soil is dry and can be well-drained.
