    Caraway 

    'Carum carvi'

    Description

      Caraway is a hardy biannual, its seeds are used as a flavouring in cakes, Bread, pickles, Baked Apples and soups whilst its young leaves make a nice addition to salads.  

    Cultivation

    Sow the seeds thinly either in Autumn or Spring where they are to grow.

    Pick a position that has a well drained soil and is in full sun. 

    protect the plants in the first year overwinter by applying a mulch

    Harvest the seeds the following year when they have fully ripened but before they fall from the plants.
