Item:223505986387Lovely triptych of beauties in the palace garden. This exquisite triptych is from our rare print collection. It is a masterwork by Hashimoto Chikanobu (Japanese, 1838-1912), one of the greatest ukiyo-e artists of the Meiji era (1868-1912). It is his lovely Beauties in a Chrysanthemum Garden. Though Chikanobu designed many warrior and kabuki prints, he is perhaps best known for his marvelous bijin-ga, or beauty portraits, such as those shown in this wonderful triptych. Lovely scene of Meiji era beauties enjoying a delightful afternoon in the palace chrysanthemum garden. There is delicate embossing on the white kimono trim and the petals of the white blossoms. A rare find. One of the most beautiful triptychs we have had to offer. A wonderful opportunity for the antique print collector or interior decorator. Matted and framed, this beautiful triptych would make a stunning presentation by itself or be an impressive addition to an arrangement with other prints. It is one you will be proud to display in your home or office and will become a cherished family heirloom. Hashimoto Chikanobu’s masterworks are in the collections of many of the world’s great museums. Among them are the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston as well as the Tokyo National Museum, Tokyo. ARTIST: Hashimoto Chikanobu (Japanese, 1838-1912).
