Height approx about 205 millimeters (8.07" inches).  Weight about 1083 grams. Made in Soviet Union (USSR) 40s. A unique example of Russian Soviet Propaganda. A great item for collectors of Russian Soviet heritage! Mark of ceramics – Gzhel. 'Gzhel' - one of the traditional centers of Russian production of ceramics.  The broader meaning of the name "Gzhel",  is correct from a historical and cultural point of view -  it is a large area consisting of 27 villages, united in "Gzhel bush." Gzhel has long been famous for its clay.  Extensive production of different varieties of clay  was conducted from mid-17th century.  In 1663, Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich issued a decree Gzhel district.  In 1770 Gzhel town was completely attributed to the Apothecary  order "to alchemical dishes."  The great Russian scientist Mikhail Lomonosov, to appreciate Gzhel clay,  wrote about them so sublime words: "...  There is hardly any land the purest  and without primeshaniya where in the world, koyu chemists called virgins,  except between china clay drink, is we Gzhel ...  which I have seen nowhere better than the whiteness ... ". Until the middle of the XVIII century Gzhel is usually  done for the time pottery, made bricks, pottery pipes, tiles,  as well as primitive toys, supplying them to Moscow.
