The 8 day substantial 5 pillar double chain fusee movement with anchor escapement and striking the half and full hours on a gong and in excellent working order. It has the finer quality "London" style regulation pendulum which is very heavy. The beautifully engraved 5.5 inch square silvered dial with roman numerals and original blued steel "Fleur De Lys" hands. At the bottom of the dial [movement plate] is a registration number and signed on the dial is "Desbois" London. A well know and long serving family of clockmakers from 1770 until after the 19c. The handsome case incorporating the arts and crafts style with a carved and pillared gallery with stepped pediment. Standing 15 inches high[38cm] x 11 ins wide[28cm] x 7 ins deep[18cm]. It has both front and back door locks but no key. In very good original condition with the usual marks associated with age and use but presents very well.
