Seller: fulwell603 (303) 100%, Location: Abingdon, Ships to: GB, Item: 303253815038 Had been stored in a garage for many years and has rust on many of the steel parts. There was much gross dirt on the case which has been gently removed with a soft brush and wet cloth. There is a small chip on the right hand side of the base (See last photo). No attempt has been made at any further cleaning or restoration. Please see photos which form part of this description. Needless to say it doesn't work and there is no key. Research on the internet suggests that it has an 8-day mechanism and chime. I am assured by the donor that it is well over 100 years old as it has been in the family for three generations. It is made of marble with some patterning but some discolouration under the face which also has water marks of dissolved copper on it and some (gold?) missing from the numerals. There are plenty of classical bas relief carvings on the front. There are brass corners at the front one of which appears to be bent. Dimensions:17" long, 14" high and 5.5" deep. (430mm x 355mm x 140mm) It is extremely heavy - 26kg (or just over half a hundred weight or 4 stone). There is no way it can be sent by courier, it would be destroyed the first time it went through a conveyor belt sorting system therefore it must be ABSOLUTELY COLLECTION IN PERSON ONLY. Please do not bid and then ask for it to be sent. I cannot see anyone buying it unseen - the procedure would be to make a bid, come and see it and if it is not what you want you can cancel the bid. Please check how far you would have to travel before bidding. Cash on collection to avoid PayPal fees so that more cash goes to the charity and you can check the item before you pay. Ebay protection is not available if paid by PayPal and collected in person. Sold for charity and all proceeds will go to supporting the Great Western Railway Society Museum at Didcot. Your payment will go towards providing a wheelchair and buggy ramp to gain access to the site. Any questions, please ask.
