Item:133150420282This is a beautiful example of a stunning 1930s westminster chime mantle clock. The clock was made by the german clock company Urgos, and retailed by Sam Lyon Junior of Blackpool. This excellent clock is in a great working order. The clock runs for eight days on a full wind, and keeps good time. It chimes on each quarter and strikes on the hour, there is also a silencing switch located on the dial, should you wish to silence the chimes. The clocks mechanism has been fully overhauled. When i first got the clock it was dusty and would not run. I have fully stripped the clock down, and cleaned all the parts. The mainsprings have been removed from their barrels, inspected for damage, and re-oiled. The clock has also been recently re-bushed, so there is no wear in the oil wells. This clock has a platform escapement, so this means that the clock will still run while being moved around. The platform escapement has also been taken apart, cleaned, and re-oiled. The clock stands on four brass feet, and has a brass bezel surrounding the dial. The dial has black Arabic numerals. Below the dial is a brass presentation plaque dated to 1934, stating that the clock was gifted as a wedding present from the staff of the Glasshoughton and Castleford Collieries. All the brass parts on the outside of the clock have been polished and lacquered to preserve their shine. The wooden casing is in a napoleon hat shape and constructed from a beautiful glossy cherry red mahogany. The finish on the clock case shows its age, as there are many small marks that can be seen in the pictures. These marks show the age of the clock, and create a nice patina. Remember this is an antique, so the casing does not look like brand new. There is also a small scratch on the glass. On the left side of the clock, there was two chunks of veneer missing. I have put new pieces of veneer in the damaged areas, and stained them to match. The repairs to the case are not perfect as they are not completely invisible, however they are not very noticeable. Overall this is a brilliant example of a antique mantle clock in a great condition, it is one of the best clocks of its type that i have seen. The clock measures 440mm wide, 140mm deep, and 235m high. I have been restoring clocks for eight years, and I take pride in bringing them back to their former glory. I will be sending a guide that i have made on how to set up and look after the clock. But please make sure that you know some information about caring for an antique clock. Along with this i will be sending a write up on the restoration work i have done on the clock with pictures, as proof of the work i have done. The clock comes with a brass winding key. Uk buyers only as sending items abroad presents risks. The postage cost is high but this is the best price to ensure that the clock arrives safely. Please study the pictures and read the description carefully. Before you buy, please be sure that you want the clock, and know what you are buying, as time wasters are not tolerated.
