Very ornate frame on this mirror, It looks to have been professionally re finished at one time maybe I am not sure has me stumped a little bit. It has a Blood Red undercoating or paint with the gold over that crackles in places and red shows thru, and a coat of Lacquer over it all. The back side has a very pale green paint on it and the mirror has been replaced recently hot glued in.  The look of this is splendid with the red showing thru. Only holes in back are where wires were it hung horizontal at one time. So I think always been a mirror would make a great frame for a painting or portrait too. There is no damage as far as pieces missing from gesso and frame is still strong. 27" x 23 1/2" outside and mirror is 20" x 16", 3/4" thick wood.
