The Lid is brass and stamped inside with a "11" and outside with "E P N S". Bottom is marked with a crown, the W & W Co. logo with a Stafford Knot hallmark. Made by William Wood & Company which was an earthenware manufacturer at the Albert Street Works in Burslem. The Albert Street Works were established in 1854 and operated by a number of potters up until the 1960's. They were known for their biscuit jars for the table among other items. This particular hallmark was used between 1915 and 1932. Burslem, located within Stoke-upon-Trent, Stafford-shire, holds the proud title of the mother of the potteries. There are no chips or cracks. There is crazing, due to age. Lovely example of his work.
