Item:113322469213ANTIQUE / VINTAGE CLEPSYDRA WATER POWERED CLOCK - WOOD & BRASS - PEERAGE ENGLAND Circa mid 20th century faithful copy of a 16th or 17th century Clepsydra, or water-powered clock. The brass barrel is filled with water and slowly released via the tap to the bottom, the float on top is attached to a chain which turns the hand, indicating the time passed on the brass face. Once the water has drained into the lower reservoir, that can be removed and used to refill the barrel. This example is in nice original condition and complete. I have not tested it as the water tap is seized shut, and will need some soaking in solvent to release it. I will leave that up to the new owner. The whole is well constructed of thick cast and sheet brass and wood. Marked to the base of the reservoir 'Peerage England'. This can be freestanding or has rear brackets for wall mounting. Height 79.5cm. Please see my other listings for interesting items. Combined postage and packaging available.
