Seller: vintagetransportmodelsandbooks (292) 100%, Location: Boston, Ships to: GB, Item: 143303085467 One of 36 matching antique Victorian Gothic Revival two-colour (brown & buff) unglazed encaustic floor tiles measuring 6" x 3" (15cm x 7.5cm) and 1" (2.5cm) thick. Made by Minton & Co., all the rears well-marked with the company name & patent info. A rare design which I was lucky enough to buy in quantity some years ago. The tiles are all in fabulous original antique condition with expected signs of age/wear to the unglazed surface (ie. some light scratching or very minor blemishes/dirt to clean). No chips, cracks or other problems to any of the tiles bar some minor edge nibbles to the minority. There are isolated specks and patches of cement on the otherwise very clean rears as shown (Victorian cement is very easy to soak off or chip off as it is very sandy in composition). They are shown wet and dry for comparison (the wet showing every little blemish up and also indicating what the tiles would look like if sealed). They were intended decorative border tiles and they would make excellent tiled hearths or perhaps tiled table tops. I also have listed 18 matching 3"x3" single motif tiles. I have 9 broken 6"x3" tiles which would easily cut down to make around 7 additional 'singles'. I will include these for anyone wishing to buy a quantity of either type or I will list them as a batch for restoration. These tiles are part of a massive sort out of my own private collection, gathered over the last two decades. Please see my other eBay listings for more Victorian, Arts & Crafts & Art Nouveau tiles and antiques! POSTAGE DISCOUNTS:These tiles weigh around 650g-700g each.
