Seller: vintagetransportmodelsandbooks (292) 100%, Location: Boston, Ships to: GB, Item: 143303085507 One of 165 matching antique Victorian Gothic Revival two-colour (red & buff) unglazed encaustic floor tiles measuring 2 1/4 inches x 2 1/4inches (5.7cm x 5.7cm). A very rare design, I was lucky enough to buy these in bulk some years ago. In fabulous original antique condition with expected signs of age/wear to the unglazed surface (ie. some light scratching/pitting or very minor blemishes/dirt which clean off). No chips, cracks or other problems to any of the tiles. There may be nicks or chips to the underside (rear) and/or nibbles around the extreme edges which don't show when laid, but nothing structurally unsound. Please see the images which show some of the tiles offered). Rears are unmarked and may have traces/specks/patches of cement (which is easily soaked or chipped off as Victorian cement is of a very sandy composition). The rears are unmarked but the majority of these tiles were made by Maw & Co. or Minton. They were intended decorative border tiles and they would make excellent tiled hearths or perhaps tiled table tops. They are shown wet (earlier image) and dry (later image) for comparison, the wet showing every little blemish up and also indicating what the tiles would look like if sealed. These tiles are part of a massive sort out of my own private collection, gathered over the last two decades. Bulk purchases of tiles across my eBay listings can always be collected in person from me in Boston, Lincolnshire, or collected by a courier/haulier of your choice.I can highly recommend P H Couriers who I always use for my antiques deliveries and collections. Please see my other eBay listings for more Victorian, Arts & Crafts & Art Nouveau tiles and antiques! POSTAGE DISCOUNTS: These tiles weigh around 150g each. It should be possible to send up to 20 of these tiles together as an economical 'up to 2kg small parcel' even once lavishly bubblewrapped, padded and strongly boxed. Beyond these weights and sizes, Hermes Tracked & Signed or Parcelforce's 24 & 48 services are the most economical for bulk purchases. Do bear in mind the insurance limitations (£50 max. on some of the cheapest services) per parcel however. Tiles will be thickly bubblewrapped, padded and strongly boxed for posting for optimum safety in transit. If purchasing more than one item, please do not pay straight away, but wait for my manually corrected invoice which will accurately reflect the available combined postage discounts and adequate levels of insurance (all my listings are set to cater for this, but the eBay system fails to properly calculate it for its automated invoices). If you have paid straight away, using the eBay automated invoice, and have been overcharged by the system for postage, I will refund by paypal any overpayment by paypal, less the fees that eBay will have already taken for the inflated postage element (which they do not currently refund to the seller!). UK POSTAGE & INSURANCE: 2nd Class (delivery 3-5 days) has £20 insurance included. 2nd Class Signed For increases cover to £50,has tracking and a signature on delivery. 1st Class (1-3 days) has £20 insurance included. 1st Class Signed For increases cover to £50, has tracking and a signature on delivery.
