Antique Sterling Silver Cigarette Money Case Engraved w/ Chinese Dragon 204g
This is a beautiful cigarette case made out of sterling silver.
The felt case that the cigarette case comes in, looks very old and well worn, and if I had to guess it is pre 1940 at least, but I am not knowledgeable enough in this area, so to auction it goes.
The item itself has no markings other than the single “Sterling” stamp inside it. The felt case says “George A. Efron - Palace Hotel Jeweller”. The Palace hotel is an upscale facility in San Francisco that goes way back. The original Palace hotel was built in 1875, but was demolished in the 1906 earthquake. The current building was opened in 1909 and still runs as a 5 star hotel under the Marriott brand. This felt case is not in the best of shape, but functions properly and is not falling apart either. A little rust on its hinges and very well worn, but it has done a great job keeping the vesta safe.
Total weight is 204 grams.
On the cover is clearly engraved “to Ralph from Mom”.
All pieces appear to be functioning as designed. The hinge has a built in spring that pushes the case open.
The latch works good.
There are no noticeable dents or dings to be found.

I was asked, so to be clear, the 204g weight is the silver case on its own, that does not include the weight of the felt case. With the felt, it’s quite a bit more, not that you care about that weight.
