Item:224327301040Antique Mid Victorian Rosewood Ladies Sewing Work Box - MOP / Brass / Abalone. Antique Mid Victorian Rosewood Ladies Sewing Work Box - Mother of Pearl / Brass / Abalone
A 19th Century box dating to around 1870, in a reasonable original condition. Decorated to the lid and escutcheon in brass, mother of pearl and abalone shell. In need of a little TLC. My Ref RWB50. I have included a number of photos and these probably describe the item better than I can and form part of the description. Everyone has different considerations when purchasing items and if you need any further information, please feel free to contact me and I will try to help.
Condition: In a reasonable condition for age, the box itself is structurally sound, there is some veneer just staring to lift on the back right side at the top. There is a little bit of fading to the top, scratches and marks commensurate with age and use but also some white marks to the back corner which could be paint. There is a small piece of brass missing to the lid and some mother of pearl missing around the escutcheon. There is no key and the lock is untested. There is a tray but it has been decorated in old Christmas paper, one edge of the tray is coming away and the dividers are missing. The main compartment appears to be in a good original condition. The document holder to the lid will not stay in place, is missing its button and has come loose at the bottom. The original baize to the base is complete although fraying around the sides. The cartouche is personalised. Please also see photos. Size: 30cm x 22cm by 13.8cm high (Approx 12" x 8 3/4" x 5 1/2"). 1551grams
Please feel free to ask any questions but please please ask through Ebay. Unfortunately, selling on Ebay generates a lot of spam and dubious emails and I now only respond to questions placed directly through Ebay. I will try to answer questions as soon as possible, but this will normally be in the evening. There are times where I may not be able to reply within 24 hours but I will reply well before the listing ends. Packing -
I pack to ensure the item arrives with you undamaged. If you have specific packing instructions, please contact me before paying as this may have an impact on the price, as both an increase in weight or size can increase the cost of delivery.
I do try to recycle boxes and other materials wherever possible and will sometimes use newspaper for
padding out, if it does not have any impact on the cost of postage.
