Seller: longcaseclockman (911) 100%, Location: Near Tarporley, Cheshire, Ships to: Free Local Pickup, Item: 133346944040 Lovely oak and mahogany longcase/ grandfather clock which is signed 'Jas Shipley Derby'. The top pf the clock features beautiful swan necks which are finished with brass pateras. Below this has been nicely inlaid with stringing. The dial is flanked by two lovely turned pillars which terminate in brass capitals. The trunk has a lovely shaped door which is cross banded in mahogany and has a lovely inlaid panel featuring a conch shell to the centre. The base has also been cross banded in mahogany and has mahogany inlays to the four corners and and a lovely inlaid panel to the centre featuring a conch shell. The dial features decorative scroll work to the corners and the middle has a pretty painting of a bird and is signed ‘Jas Shipley, Derby' to show that it was made by James Shipley of Derby who is listed in 'Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World Volume 2 by Brian Loomes' as 'SHIPLEY. James. Derby(B. 1809). 1828 - 35. Watchmaker'. Clock seems to be ticking away and has a 30 hour movement however is being sold as seen with no guarantee. Case is generally in nice condition, a little restoration could be carried out to enhance it according to personal taste.
