I Bought This Clock From a Yorkshire Country Estate a Couple of Years Ago and Since Then it Has Had Pride of Place on Our Main Fireplace (and we have some quality stock to choose from) as it is a Simply Stunning 19th Century French Clock! Constructed of Sienna Marble and Bronze, This Striking Mantel Clock is circa 1860. The Castings Are As Crisp as The Day It Was Made Some 160 Years Ago! The Bronze Winged Cherub is Leaning On a Column, Writing. The Beautiful Sienna Marble Case Has Acanthus Leaf Decorated Borders, With Matching ‘Under Scroll’ Feet. The French Twin Barrel 8 Day Movement Has Outside Countwheel Striking, Striking Once on the Hour and the Number of Hours on a Bell. The Movement Has a Small Star Stamped on The Backplate. The Silvered Dial Has Roman Numerals and Blue ‘Moon’ Hands. The Clock is 44cm High and 32cm Wide and 11cm Deep. This Clock Is Extremely Heavy For Its Size. In Terms of Condition I Would Rate It as VVG to Excellent, The Marble Case Has Some Very Minor Chips to Edges and Very Fine Scratches To The Bronze Commensurate With Age. The Movement Is Clean and Running and Striking Correctly and Has Original Pendulum and Bell.  I Can Honestly Say This Is The Nicest Quality French Bronze Figural Clock I Have Ever Had Through my Hands, Not One To Be Missed!
