I have a number of very good tiles on eBay this week including a couple of others from this superb set - please take a look. This is the third of three super Arts and Crafts design tiles by Mintons from around 1872 that I have on offer on eBay this week. It has a delightful, and very typically, William Stephen Coleman design in blue and white with a infant examining a bird's nest in the boughs of a tree - a William Stephen Coleman drawing of a very similar subject is held in the Minton Archives. Produced at the Minton Art Pottery Studio in Kensington Gore between 1871 and 1875 where many of the most innovative products of the company were produced during the relatively short life of the Studio which employed a number of Mintons' finest artists including Coleman, Christopher Dresser, William Wise and Herbert Wilson Foster. Coleman was the Art Director of the Art Pottery Studio. The design works superbly in the classic simple blue and white tradition and the tile is a standard 6 inches (15 cms) square - it has no cracks, chips or restoration - there is the very smallest of rubs to the bottom left corner - no cracks, no chips, no restoration - exceptional condition after around 140 plus years. The reverse has a standard relief diagonal MINTONS CHINA WORKS STOKE ON TRENT and Globe marks and also has the addition of a small handpainted diamond and pattern number (529) for the Art Pottery Studios. I pack to an excellent standard and the shipment costs are just what Royal Mail charges me - if your tile shipment comes out as any less than the amount quoted I refund the difference. Internationally 2 or 3 tiles ship for relatively little more than one and insurance cover for loss is included in the shipment costs.
