Seller: graham3943 (1.224) 100%, Location: Thames Ditton, Ships to: Europe, Asia, US, CA, AU, Item: 362881835890 Hi, My name's Graham. I am retired and restore antique and vintage clocks in my spare time. I have had professional training in horology. I now specialise in carriage clocks. I spent several enjoyable hours in my workshop earlier this month restoring this one. IT IS AN EXQUISITE ANTIQUE MINIATURE FRENCH CARRIAGE CLOCK* IN EXCELLENT ORIGINAL CONDITION. * IT IS SHOWN IN THE BANNER PICTURE ALONGSIDE A STANDARD CARRIAGE CLOCK FOR PURPOSES OF SIZE COMPARISON ONLY (THE CLOCK FOR AUCTION IS THE SMALLER ONE ON THE RIGHT). Height (with handle folded down) 3 1/2 inches (9 cms); Width 2 1/4 inches (6 cms); Depth 2 inches (5 cms) MOVEMENT: 8 day timepiece with a good quality Swiss lever escapement which works well with good amplitude. It has "MADE IN FRANCE" stamped very faintly at the bottom of the back plate. It was working rather fitfully when I acquired it, so I dismantled it completely and checked all parts carefully for wear (none found!). I then polished the wheels on the lathe hand polished the pivots, pegged out the sinks and finally, after rebuilding it, oiled it back and front with appropriate grade clock oil. I also cleaned the escapement and oiled that with fine grade watch oil. The whole movement movement now looks almost like it would have done when the clock was first sold.CASE:Solid brass case in wonderful overall condition. All the case parts are stamped with the same number (30) showing it to be completely original. The rear door opens and closes with absolute precision which is an indication that the clock has not been dropped or otherwise damaged in the past. After completely dismantling the case and stripping off the old worn lacquer finish , I cleaned the parts then hand polished them, finishing the process with a chalk brush. Finally, I gave them a couple of coats of special wax polish to delay the tarnishing process. The case now has a rich antique patina which should last for years.DIAL: I cleaned the white enamel-on-copper dial which is original and in perfect condition. The polished blued steel hands are in perfect condition.GLASSES: All five thick bevelled glasses - made out of top quality "greenish" optical glass - are in perfect condition save for one small chip to the bevel of the rear door glass - which actually is the ONLY fault with this clock!KEYs: The clock comes with fitted winders for the movement and for adjusting the hands. A fast/slow adjustment lever is reached through the rear door.INSTRUCTIONS: I will enclose a brief note with the clock explaining how to get it started if it has stopped when you receive it. I will also give you my contact details so that you can get in touch with me with any subsequent questions about care and maintenance. THIS MINIATURE ANTIQUE CARRIAGE CLOCK IS IN SUPERB CONDITION. IT WILL NOT NEED SERVICING AGAIN FOR YEARS. The clock will be very well packed using new double boxes. It will also be shipped using a tracked and insured service. Cost: UK £10.00; EU £20.00 (approx. 22 Euros); Elsewhere £30.00 I pack well, post promptly after payment and keep purchasers informed at all stages of the transaction. I would ask that you kindly glance at my 100% positive feedback on eBay - a record I am proud of and intend to maintain.
