Seller: graham3943 (1.195) 100%, Location: Thames Ditton, Ships to: Europe, Asia, US, CA, AU, Item: 362740546159 I am retired and have had professional horological training. I restore antique and vintage clocks as a hobby in my spare time - and have been doing so now for nearly 40 years. I specialise in carriage clocks. I spent several enjoyable hours in my workshop at the end of last month restoring this one. ANTIQUE MINIATURE FRENCH CARRIAGE CLOCK* IN EXCELLENT ORIGINAL CONDITION. I COMPLETELY RESTORED AND SERVICED IT AT THE END OF AUGUST THIS YEAR. * IT IS SHOWN IN THE SECOND PICTURE ALONGSIDE A STANDARD CARRIAGE CLOCK FOR PURPOSES OF SIZE COMPARISON ONLY (THE CLOCK FOR AUCTION IS THE SMALLER ONE ON THE RIGHT). Height (with handle folded down) 3 1/2 inches (9 cms); Width 2 1/2 inches (6.5 cms); Depth 2 1/4inches (5.5 cms) MOVEMENT: Good quality 8 day timepiece made by Couaillet Freres with its original silvered cylinder escapement which works well with good amplitude. It was working perfectly well when I acquired it; nevertheless, I removed the hands and dial to check all parts carefully for wear (none found!). I then oiled it back and front with appropriate grade clock oil. I also cleaned the escapement and oiled that with fine grade watch oil. The movement is working perfectly and looks almost like it would have done when the clock was first sold.CASE:Solid brass case in wonderful overall condition. It sits on four small turned brass feet and has four matching finials on top. All the case parts are stamped with the same number (2) showing it to be completely original. The rear door opens and closes with absolute precision which is an indication that the clock has not been dropped or otherwise damaged in the past. After completely dismantling the case and cleaning the parts, I hand polished them, finishing the process with a chalk brush. I then gave them a couple of coats of special wax polish to delay the tarnishing process. The case now has a rich antique patina which should last for years.DIAL: I cleaned the white enamel-on-copper dial which is original and in good condition. [For the record: there is a small chip to the top left corner which I repaired: it is completely covered by the case and can only be seen when the movement is removed from it. The polished blued steel hands are in perfect condition.GLASSES: All five thick bevelled glasses - made out of top quality "greenish" optical glass - are in perfect condition.KEY: The clock comes with a classic double-ended brass carriage clock key. One end is for winding the movement and the other is for adjusting the hands. A fast/slow adjustment lever is reached through the rear door.INSTRUCTIONS: I will enclose a brief note with the clock explaining how to get it started if it has stopped when you receive it. I will also give you my contact details so that you can get in touch with me with any subsequent questions about care and maintenance. THIS MINIATURE ANTIQUE CARRIAGE CLOCK IS IN SUPERB CONDITION. IT WILL NOT NEED SERVICING AGAIN FOR YEARS. The clock will be very well packed using new double boxes. It will also be shipped using a tracked and insured service. Cost: UK £10.00; EU £20.00 (approx. 22 Euros); Elsewhere £30.00 I pack well, post promptly after payment and keep purchasers informed at all stages of the transaction.
