Beautiful Victorian black slate and marble Mantle Clock with engraved gilt face.
From one of the top ( at the time) London retailers of Millers and sons, Piccadilly.
It has a Japy Freres 8 day movement, with the Gde Med D'Honneur in the makers stamp this dates the manufacture from between 1855 and 1867. It runs and keeps time fine, but at present requires an old penny under the left hand side, it's either ever so slightly 'out of beat' (easy adjustment) or this old house is a bit wonky ( highly likely)
Measures a maximum 27cm tall, 25cm wide and 14cm deep. Face has a diameter of 11cm.
Condition: needs a bit of a clean, you can use a proper slate oil or something like wd40, Teak oil or even olive oil, will leave it up to the new owner. Some wear to the roman numerals on the face. Couple of minor chips to the slate.
