●Master Craftsmen of Meiji Cloisonne Art: Yasuyuki Namikawa and Sosuke Namikawa
Cloisonne enamel ware of the Meiji period was mostly exported overseas and had been forgotten in Japan. In recent years, however, cloisonne enamel works have gained recognition in Japan thanks to the introduction of pieces returned from their homelands, and they have become one of the most popular works in antique art.
Among them, the two most prominent are Namikawa Yasuyuki in Kyoto and Namikawa Sosuke in Tokyo. We will look at collections in Japan and abroad centering on these two master craftsmen, as well as the masterpieces of Owari cloisonne enamel ware, from which they originated.
