Seller: jovanova21 (447) 100%, Location: Bethesda, Maryland, Ships to: US & many other countries, Item: 283569055116 Rare Japanese antique Kiyomizu porcelain/pottery, ceramic.This piece is skillfully hand molded and hand painted in a Kinkozan style of Satsuma with a cream colored background. It is decorated with enameled floral motif birds, butterfly, flowers and foliage in green, rose, black and yellow color. It looks like mustard or some other sauce, spice dish. Possibly sugar serving bowl? The cup is standing on a three legs connected to the saucer.There is a hole for spoon. Beautiful detail, butterfly accent handle. Bamboo handles.Probably made at the beginning of the 20th century Meiji period (1868-1912). Kinkozan was one of the famous potters- family of Kyoto potters/ceramicists, many generation of artists starting from 16th century until 1927 when factory finally was closed. During the 19th century they made porcelain and pottery art specifically for European imports. This small serving dish is in a used condition, old piece, shows wear, crazing, some yellow spots on the lid-inside area-, on some spots glaze is not shiny as it was long time ago,free of cracks, hairlines or chips. Nice, well preserved antique condition. Signed by the artist on the saucer, please see all my posted pictures regarding condition, signature and old school artistic skill. Saucer has 4.75" in diameter. Whole set is about 3.5" tall with butterfly handle. Opening of a bowl is 2.75". Bowl with legs is close to 2" tall.
