Item:155665529180George III Sterling Silver gilt vinaigrette - Joseph Willmore Birmingham 1809. In excellent condition with very little wear for over 200 years old. Engraved initials to lid. Geometric hand-etched grille, in a silver with gilt vinaigrette made by Joseph Willmore (JW) assayed 1809 (l) Original sponge included (but this has hardened and become brittle). A very nice example of a Georgian vinaigrette and an early piece of Joseph's work. Joseph Willmore (1773-1855) was the grandson of Thomas Willmore (an original member of the Birmingham Assay Office). Joseph took over his grandfather's business in 1816 when Tomas died, but had already registered his own mark about 1806/7 at the Birmingham Assay Office.
