Seller: 6579nick (152) 100%, Location: Lewes, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 293195168171 I am selling an Antique Mahogany George III Campaign Writing Slope, dating from circa 1810. It is believed to be in original condition with blue/green baize woollen cloth to the internal slope. The main lock is a "Bramah" security lock, that was created by Joseph Bramah in 1784 and is the first known high-security lock design. The Bramah includes its original key. Bramah locks were only fitted to the best quality writing slopes and boxes of there time. This campaign slope, if seen military service, would have been at the time of the Peninsular War which ultimately led to the Battle of Waterloo. There are also two very unique lead glass Ink and Pounce bottles. This slope is a very well made, solid and heavy. If you are unsure about writing slopes then reading any of the books featured in the last photographs will give you a good start.
