The top quality, 8 day, chain fusee movement in excellent working order keeping accurate time and with original pendulum and a suitable winding key. The black slate case in Egyptian revival style featuring chunky half pilasters flanking the dial engraved with figures. The top plinth was originally home to a bronze sphinx, now lost. The golden dial has the makers marks at 12 though it is worn and only fully legible with a lens. This medium sized clock is exceptionally heavy having been fashioned from thick sections of Belgian black slate (limestone) Weighs 15kg before wrapping.
