Item:362884022975SUPERB ANTIQUE OVAL FRENCH CARRIAGE CLOCK TIMEPIECE WITH NUMBERED MOVEMENT ALL COMPLETELY ORIGINAL AND CAREFULLY RESTORED. COMES WITH A DOUBLE ENDED KEY. *CLOCK DIMENSIONS: Height with handle folded down 3 1/2 inches (9 cms); Width 4 inches (10 cms); Depth 3 inches (8 cms)I am retired (with professional horological training), and have been restoring antique clocks as an interest for about 40 years. I specialise in antique and vintage carriage clocks. I really enjoyed overhauling and servicing this most unusual clock at the start of this month in my workshop. It is in remarkable original condition and looks really stunning on display. BRASS CLOCK CASE: Solid brass in perfect original condition. Pretty folding handle. It sits on four small turned brass feet and has matching finials to the top. All case parts bear the same matching number (36), showing it to be totally original. The opening rear brass door is an absolute perfect fit - a good sign for obvious reasons! It was pretty dirty when I acquired it so I completely dismantled the case and then cleaned, polished and waxed each part by hand before rebuilding the case. It now has a lustrous antique patina which should last for years.MOVEMENT: Excellent quality 8-day timepiece with its original Swiss silvered lever escapement. It is beautifully engineered and finished and numbered(65) inside both plates. After carefully checking the movement for wear, I completely dismantled it to give it a thorough clean, pegged it out, polished the pivots and wheels on the lathe and then oiled it with appropriate high-grade clock and watch oil. I hand polished all the parts prior to rebuilding it; I also cleaned the escapement and oiled that with watch oil. The movement is now in perfect working order. There is a fast/slow adjustment lever which is reached through the opening rear door. The movement should not need servicing again for many years.DIAL: Brilliant white enamel-on-copper dial shaped to match the contours of the clock. It has bold, clear roman numerals and chapter ring. Each five minute marker is highlighted with a discreet gold dot. It is in perfect condition. The polished blued steel hands are original and in good condition. GLASSES: All the thick convex bevelled glasses are I believe original. They are all in excellent condition (see condition report above). A striking feature is the unusually large oval top glass. KEY: The clock comes with a classic double-ended brass key which I don't think is original: it fits both winding arbours snugly. One end is for winding the 8-day movement and the other is for adjusting the hands.A BEAUTIFUL AND QUITE UNUSUAL ANTIQUE FRENCH BRASS OVAL CARRIAGE CLOCK IN ORIGINAL CONDITION. Packaging (new strong boxes) and Postage (tracked and insured) UK £10.00; EU £25.00 (about 28 Euros); Elsewhere £30.00PLEASE READ MY 100% POSITIVE FEEDBACK ON eBay BEFORE BIDDING: I HOPE THAT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF!THANK YOU FOR READING ALL THIS! GOOD LUCK IF YOU DECIDE TO BID.Condition:This interesting clock is in very good condition. The unusual oval brass case and the movement, are in excellent condition. The convex shaped dial is perfect. Similarly, all the shaped bevelled glasses are in unusually good condition. There is some very minor scuffing to the top and bottom edges of the front glass and to the bottom edge of the right side glass: this does not notice on display and is not obvious from the pictures; it certainly does not notice on display. The clock comes with its double-ended carriage clock key (which is probably not the original). The clock keeps good time on a weekly wind., Age:Antique, Circa 1900, Material:Brass, Features:8-Day, Sub-Type:Carriage Clock, Clock Type:Mantel/ Carriage Clock, Style/ Origin/ Theme:French
