Item:362726310501I am retired and restore antique and vintage clocks as a hobby. I have had professional training in horology. I specialise in carriage clocks. I spent several hours in my workshop earlier this month restoring this one. IT IS A CLASSIC ANTIQUE FRENCH CARRIAGE CLOCK IN WONDERFUL CONDITION. IT IS A GOOD QUALITY CLOCK WITH A NUMBERED MOVEMENT MADE AROUND 1900. I COMPLETELY RESTORED AND SERVICED IT THIS MONTH. Height (with handle folded down) 4 1/2 inches (11.5 cms); Width 3 inches (7.5 cms); Depth 2 1/2 inches (6.5 cms) MOVEMENT: 8 day timepiece numbered 215 inside both plates with the initials V.H. in an oval lozenge. It has a replacement Swiss 7 jewel lever escapement which works well with good amplitude. As it was not working when I acquired it, I dismantled it completely and checked all parts carefully. Having satisfied myself that there was no wear, I then cleaned and polished the plates and pivots, pegged out the sinks and finally, after rebuilding it, oiled it back and front with appropriate grade clock oil. I also cleaned and oiled the escapement with fine grade watch oil. The whole movement movement now looks almost like it would have done when the clock was first sold.CASE: Solid brass case in wonderful overall condition. All the case parts - including the cast brass base and top - are stamped with the same number (470), showing it to be completely original. The rear door opens and closes with absolute precision - always a good sign! It has restored beautifully. After completely dismantling the case and cleaning the parts, I hand polished them to preserve as much of the original detail as possible, finishing the process with a chalk brush. I then gave them a couple of coats of special wax polish to delay the tarnishing process. The case now has a rich antique patina which should last for years.(The base masking plate and the rear door knob were missing when I acquired the clock. I provided replacements which I took from a clock of similar age). DIAL: I cleaned the dial which is in absolutely perfect condition. The roman numerals and the chapter ring are crystal clear with each five minute marker highlighted with a small gold dot. The polished blued steel hands are in perfect condition.GLASSES: All five thick bevelled glasses - made out of top quality "greenish" optical glass - are in perfect condition.KEY: The clock comes with a new double-ended brass carriage clock key. One end is for winding the movement and the other is for adjusting the hands. A fast/slow adjustment lever is reached through the rear door.INSTRUCTIONS: I will enclose a brief note with the clock explaining how to get it started if it has stopped when you receive it. I will also give you my contact details so that you can get in touch with me with any questions about care and maintenance. HAVING JUST BEEN COMPLETELY TASTEFULLY RESTORED,THIS CLASSIC ANTIQUE CARRIAGE CLOCK IS IN BEAUTIFUL CONDITION. IT WILL NOT NEED SERVICING AGAIN FOR YEARS. The clock is heavy and will be packed well, hence the charges! Packaging (new double boxes) & Postage (tracked and insured) UK £10.00; EU £20.00 (approx. 22 Euros); Elsewhere £30.00 I pack well, post promptly after payment and keep purchasers informed at all stages of the transaction.
