Each of the handles has the face of a monkey carved onto the hand rest. The back is detailed with the face of a lion. Throughout the entire piece there is evidence of the fine hand woodworking that France is known for. The piece is in good shape and has not had any repairs or cracks wood. It is missing both the seat and a crossbar brace between the two legs the traverses the bottom. Normally the seats on these type of chairs are covered with a cushion so a replacement seat would not be noticed. The crossbar across the bottom is actually a plain piece. Neither should be a difficult project for a woodworker. The patina on this piece is just great and there is no other damage. The entire piece will be new need to be reglued. We have opted not to do that before shipping it because the missing seat and brace will need to be replaced first. Please feel free to ask any questions. The depth of the seat is 22 inches and the width is 22 inches as well. It is 33 inches tall. From our home in the French alps to yours.
