For sale here is this lovely French alabaster and gilt metal mantel clock with its original wooden stand. This impressive clock features a kneeling cherub and a ribbon and bow on top of the clock. The case is ornamented with gilt metal pillars, swags, lyre, musical instruments, bosses and feet. The 8 day movement is working well and strikes the hours and the half-hours on a bell. The serial number is 33276. The base is marked underneath with the same serial number and with the words "March the seven teenth, 1885".The clock measures approximately 16 inches high when on the stand. It is 14 inches high, 7 inches wide and 4 1/2 inches deep without the stand. It is working very well. The alabaster case is in very good antique condition, with only a few, tiny little fleabites on some edges. There are a couple of repairs to 2 or 3 of the numerals on the dial. Please view all the enlarged photos (above) for details, as these form part of the description. The clock is extremely heavy and weighs around 4.5 kgs, unpacked.
