Offered here is an Antique Chinese Chinoiserie Lacquer Papier Mache Tray . This is decorated with an Oriental scene of Birds on a Weeping Willow or Babylon Tree. In China this is known as the Pinyin Tree . The lacquered Tray is a fabulous piece of Asian Art that dates to the late c19th or early c20th . It is a nice piece but it does have wear particularly in the top left corner , there are various areas of smaller wear which may have been touched up at some stage . There is a series of lines across the tray , I am not sure if they are original or due to wear , the underside is black. The mark in the centre at the bottom of the back is a reflection of my iPad .This is still a useable and decorative piece , great for the Country House look , but it would also fit into a contemporarily decorated loft space or apartment . The lacquer is a burgundy red with gold gilded decoration and other colours . The entire piece measures 20.5 x 11.5 x 1.5 inches . The lip has handles at either side . Good Luck . ( Sm Rm )
