Here we have a fine Copeland raised relief pitcher named “Harvest Barrel.”  The pitcher is barrel shaped with 3 stays around the outside and sprays of wheat, oats and barley molded in relief to either side. The pitcher is flat topped with an angular handle.  Measuring 7” in height the pitcher is in near mint condition with only a flake off the side of one of the grains of barley, a small nick on the edge of one of the leaves.  Neither of these are obvious and neither detracts.    There is no other damage or any repairs.  The underside of the base has a shield cartouche impressed “COPELAND 24” along with a “kite” registry mark with the date code for February 26, 1853.   This rare and desirable pitcher is not shown in any of the books on collecting yellow ware.
